I'm taking off for a week or so starting Friday! Have little in the way of a plan other than staying for a few days in the La Crosse WI area, then probably head north towards Lake Superior. I know Wildcat Mountain is a must ride in that area. Any other favorites? Maps look like you can just pick a road and it will be pretty darn good. Any must see suggestions would be welcome though. |

The Mindoro Cut is a must! It's only a couple of miles but, I promise you'll do it more than once. If you're riding the MN side north (hwy 61) jump off on Welch Villiage rd. (north of Red Wing). Again, short but sweet. Whip around at the end and enjoy it again on your way back to the hwy. Enjoy |

Go North toward Nelson, WI and turn East on any County Road. There are hundreds of miles of very twisty county roads on the WI side. I usually just bounce between Hwy 35 and Hwy 10 on the lettered county roads. |

It looks like the kind of area where I may enjoy the GPS to get me home again! Thanks for the suggestions to both of you. Thanks in advance for any others! |

33 east out of LaCrosse takes you to WC mountain, that whole stretch is curvy. 16 into s. Minnesota is very scenic with the bluffs and all. 35 on the Wisc. side is also good. 60 west of Wabesha is great for 10 miles or so. |

Be very aware of speed on ANY WI road with out of state plates. Got a big bogus one a few years ago. All eyesight, didn't lock us on radar or have the video on. Told us he had us at 76 in a 55, problem was we were doing 50 in a 45. MN plates. $450 plus and 6 points after hiring a lawyer. I think the original deal was $600 and 12 points. Really glad that WI and NC didn't share info then. Insurance got it, and me, but in NC thats a "loose your license" offense. Cop was "difficult", beware, they do not want your tourist dollar. Give it to someone who does! Ride the MN side of the Mississippi. |

Rarely will you catch a break in Wisconsin when it comes to being pulled over (for any reason). Tickets are major revenue income for most counties in the state.Tickets equal MONEY. They say that they're making the roads safer, reality is they're just protecting their jobs......ride smart and be aware that they're out to get you and you'll be fine. |

Kevin, Thanks for that heads up. I've been burned on that sort of thing in MI years ago. WI was the first time I was ever asked if I would like to pay by credit card. We will be spending some of our tourist dollars in about a month down around NC, TN, GA. I wonder if there are any states that don't share info any more. |

Go up to Grandad Bluff when in LaCrosse, it's worth the great view on a clear day! It's a little tough to find the first time so google it, gps it or ask a local. |

A place you have to stop at is Hansons hold-up. It is a really cool bar. They serve food too. It is on the top of the bluff and the deck over looks the valley. The owner is very biker friendly. It is a very cool place. If you google it you will find where it is. The road in and out of there is very cool. When you come down out of the bluffs you are at the Mississippi. When on the highways watch your speed, the cops here have been working hard lately. Have a safe journey |

+1 to Hanson's hold-up. That road is 95, a lot of nice sweepers west and south and a real nice tight section a couple miles east towards Arcadia. The Boss Hoss guys like to do burnouts in front of the hold-up. |

Day 1 was a great ride up there. Roads are fantastic! We got settled in and the wife wanted to go for a quick ride before dinner and crashing. Almost back to the hotel she went wide and low sided on the shoulder. She's a bit bruised, but saved by her gear. The Street Triple is probably a total. The tank is dented, frame scraped up, lot's of smaller parts scraped up. I'm guessing the shifter forks got bent because it just doesn't want to down shift any more. Engine has to be dropped to get at that to see what's going on. She felt good enough this morning to limp it home like a trooper. Even enjoyed a few twisties along the way. Real finicky shifting though so we did a nice cruise back on Rt. 61. So it's supposed to rain here tomorrow, but she wants to head back up there on Monday with the Sportster. It's great to see the enthusiasm under bad circumstances. I just hope she can keep it in check with her experience. I think we are going to hang on to the Striple, and fix it as time allows. Just getting the trans fixed will have it ridable. It sucks but can be part of the game. ATGATT kids! |
