Gotta love that terrible English goalkeeping. Just put it on goal. |

Oops....another non-motorcycle related thread. US: 1 Eng: 1 at halftime. That must have been the world's worst block by the England goalie giving US the tying goal. What is with the incessant droning of the horns at the stadium? |

"What is with the incessant droning of the horns at the stadium?" That is the Vuvuzela. They are annoying stadium horns. They should not be allowed. I would much rather hear the standard singing and chanting from the crowd than the bee hive that they create. Good result for the USA. If either Algeria or Slovenia win that match tomorrow it could get messy. Here is my favorite GK blunder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U-8dOjeVC80 |

Hold your tounge Crap is stopping a game every 3 seconds for tv time outs or rather getting to call time out period. There is only ties in the first round cause goals for goals against count when it goes to sweet 16 there are no ties. And soccer is the biggest sport in the world and most watched BTW |

FIFA really needs to ban the vuvuzela during game play as it is extremely annoying. The incessant drone replaces the sound of the excitement of the fans in the stadium. The drone is a B flat. It is really hard to listen to the commentators with the "swarm of angry bees" in the background. Germany is kicking Australia's butt 4:0. |

I agree with the Banning of those damn things I'd rather here the chants and songs they are quite interesting at times |

The Vuvuzella is as much a part of the game in South Africa as chanting and singing are in England and Europe, so I can't see how they can ban it really (annoying as it is). I've watched three games now and after a while you kind of get used to the incessant drone and learn to ignore it (just)! The result on Saturday night was absolutely shocking England certainly don't look like a cup winning side but they really should have put at least 3 away against the USA team given the supposed qualilty of the England players. Unfortunately England couldn't make the most of the chances they were given and Rob Green (England Goalkeeper)must have a green card application pending for a job at LA Galaxy! Wayne Rooney was useless all night and half of the team looked half asleep for most of the second half. What a shambles..... (Message edited by trojan on June 14, 2010) |

What a shambles..... +1 They played like a bunch of jessies, couldn't even hold possession. The upside is better odds at the bookie's though. |

After watching the other 2 in the group USA / England is still my choice to come out of the group. I watched the game, however it was on a 10'x10' outdoor tv at a huge world cup party we could make out the English players and the ball but the US players were hard to see. So I really can't comment on the run of play. My son said it was fairly average and not to enthralling. Germany however put on a show on how to play the game my GAWD did they look good. |

Personally, I wasn't shocked by the result at all. England are pretty much over-hyped as a team. They cannot get it together in international play and haven't been able to for 20 years now. The EPL is high quality football (soccer)because of the imported players filling key roles in the teams. USA should go through to the knockout stage, along with lamentable England. |

I was very happy to see the tie, now we just have to keep it up. Well maybe score a few more goals. We need points! |

Can't disgree with you on that one. As a long term (part time) Arsenal supporter I was shocked that for the first time in many years there are no Arsenal players in the England World Cup team. Then I worked out that there is only one English player in the Arsenal first team anyway as the rest are all foreign! The English league needs to introduce a limit on imported players IMHO if they are to come up with a decent England team again, and of course that would stop a large proportion of team USA ( and other International players) playing their football in the English league too If England and USA don't qualify for the next round they should both hang their heads in shame But then looking at Germany and a couple of other teams I think that England and USA should book their tickets for their flights home straight after the first knockout games. |

I reckon that England will make the Quarter Final round, as long as we avoid Germany in the round of 16. I'm a lifelong West Ham fan so part of me wants Robert Green to be excluded from the England setup so that he can concentrate on the EPL! I agree re: needing an overseas player quota in the EPL. it'll never happen though because of complications w/Irish, Scottish and Welsh players + Bosman and EU right to work policies. Chris C |

For me, it started as a novelty but quickly became annoying and distracting. It has only become worse the more I watch. I am not a big soccer (oops... football) fan so I am less inclined to tune in to the match as a result. I have no trouble with peaceful but loud drunks expressing their team support at the game though. |

We got robbed the other day but got the result we were needing to say the most. We must win our last game Algiers must go down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I understand most of my peers do not enjoy World Football but you must admit the world cup is a spectacle of giant proportion and is actually fun to watch!!! (except the horns) |

Is there some kind of a soccer tournament going on? I've kinda been tied up with work and Homecoming. I did watch the Blackhawks win the Stanley Cup. |

Well there could be riots on the streets of England and France tomorrow if the unthinkable happens and both teams don't qualify for the next round (although I doubt if anyone could be bothered in England really, as we kind of expect our sports teams to be gallant losers all the time). If USA qualify and England don't we'll never hear the last of it and will probably have to take up baseball (whatever that is?)! |

A small French boy is in court for a custody hearing of his parents divorce. "So young man" says the judge "do you want to live with your father?" "Nonono" says the boy "he beats me." "With your mother then?" "Nonono, she beats me too!" "So who do you want to live with then?" asks the judge exasperatedly. "The French football team" replies the boy. "Why on earth do you want to live with them?" "Well they never beat anybody!!" |
