Doon, that video is pretty funny!! ( and I like Apple, haha ) Competition makes the world go around! I sure as hell wont wait hours in a store line to get any new phone, but I do like my iPhone. |

I used one the other night for the first time. WOW. The screen is as good as they claim. It's FAST. I like. I'm waiting for a white one, which will also let me keep a tab on the reception issue. I don't want a silly rubber bumper case and some think there could be a SW fix for this, but I'm not sure that makes sense. |

The theory about the SW update fix is how the phone switches frequency during signal changes. An AT&T rep told me yesterday that it's a good thing I chose black, because the white will be in stores around 2012. (jokingly) |

Actually from what I gather the Software fix is them "fixing" the algo that they use to computer bars from Signal strength, and that really the big drop you where seeing is cause they where showing 4 bars, when it should have been 1. See Gruber's Translation of Apple PR speak here... http://daringfireball.net/2010/07/translation_ipho ne_4 |

Jobs looks a little more gay every time I see him... Gates is a dweeb... but I'll be damned if Jobs ain't a pillow biter. All the iphone guys in the IT department at Landstar were drooling over how my phone instantly synced up with the exchange server and fax distribution lists, while ifail users have to use the lame global smtp for outgoing mail, reboot and wait several hours before it started working. And crackberries had a bunch of their own special problems. Every meeting I was in this week the VP's and directors were gaga over the Droid. As of this afternoon, they are seeking bids from Verizon to replace all the corporate ifails and crackberries which are currently provided by AT&T. Get this: With over 24,000 units in the field, AT&T doesn't offer ANY discount at the corporate level to replace damaged or lost phones. Hmph. |

this is so cool! I just downloaded an app that lets me teather the internet through my Droid. I turned off the Comcast modem and wifi in my house, hooked up the usb cable from my laptop to my phone, started the app (Pdanet modem)Now I'm typing this msg on my laptop and its going through my phone. Oh, its charging my phone battery also......too cool! (Message edited by two_buells on July 02, 2010) |

I use Easytether. The full version is totally worth the $10.00 for https support. I get fairly constant 1.5Mb d/l and around 1Mb u/l. Airport zero-security wi-fi can kiss my encrypted ass! Oh yeah.... no monthly fee and free updates from the developer! |

PdaNet Modem is free for a trial period... after that expires, it blocks secure websites. $23.95 vs. $9.99 Just a heads-up. |

Pwnzor, thanks. No where on there web site or in the Android Market place says that PdaNet is a trial version. I read the users comments and everyone is mad at them. |

Yep, I did the same thing when I was looking for tethering apps... I always read several pages of reviews before downloading, so I can make sure the negatives aren't just idiots. Many of the negative reviewers are just too stupid to figure out their devices. Also, I do a lot of reading at Droid Forums Dot Net. I've found tons of useful info and mods there. |

I've ordered my iPhone 4 yesterday. I was planning on buying one in about a month when the rush was over and any new release bugs were worked out. BUT...somewhere in a mile and a half between my house and work, it fell out of my jeans "cell phone" pocket and has disappeared. AT&T told me it will be about 2 weeks to get it shipped. Apple says 3 weeks on their website. XB9er ordered his online thru AT&T and did an online chat with an AT&T rep and they said they are shipping now-no backlog. Guess we'll find out soon enough who is right! |

If you ordered it from the apple site, you'll be able to track it from china to your door. |

I got to try out the i4 yesterday.... seems like the same phone as the 3gs in a new case.... but this time the screen is a little nicer. The screen is smaller than the Droid but the touch interface is more accurate. ... but hardly noticeable from the standpoint of functionality. ... the new case really is nicer. Its a lot easier to grip but sure enough the signal drops out when you grab it in certain ways..... Meh. |

"these are the Droids you were looking for" Pwnzor, I've been reading that site since I bought the phone. I can't decide if I want to root and try android 2.2 or wait for the release... |

The only advantage to rooting that I can see is the ability to tether internet without any wires at all... Laptop to Droid via bluetooth OR wifi, using the phone's 3g for interwebz. I'm waiting for the over-the-air push from Verizon. I use my phone for work and I don't need anything more than what it does. I prefer to tether with the cable because it charges the phone. |

The only advantage to rooting that I can see Adobe Flash for games, tv/movies. plus you can overclock the processer and really make your apps run fast... |

Adobe Flash for games, tv/movies. plus you can overclock the processer and really make your apps run fast... My apps run plenty fast... and I can wait for the Froyo OTA update to get Flash going. But, to each his own... I used to be the guy who got the newest thing as soon as it came out, but I guess I've calmed down a bit on that stuff. I have one game on the Droid, and I never play it. I've run some demo games, and they're nice but I just really don't play video games much anymore. I admit, it is impossible for me to pass up a working Galaga machine... or Asteroids, or Dig Dug, etc. All my phone's sounds are from SiniStar, Q-bert, Defender, Joust and the like. |

Amazing that I almost never see a Droid thread Matt, I'm not into games either. I do have Asteroids though, thats about it. All my apps run fine also, I do wish my pictures would load faster. and I will wait for Verizon to push the new operating system to upgrade. Its like Badweb for Droids..

I've found that when I get around 100 pictures in the "Camera" folder, it's helpful to move them into another folder, leaving the original folder empty to accept new images. It does seem to load more quickly. |

I use the DCIM camera folder just for pictures I take and then move them to other folders to keep them organized or delete them. I have about 10 folders under one folder called pictures. I have gone through most of the pictures and resized them to take up less space on my SD Card. My DSLR’s shots are over 4mb each. There was a thread on DroidForums that had some good suggestions on how to set-up the directory/folder structure on the SD memory card. |

So Mike... what accessories have you purchased for your Droid? I have the Seidio Innocase Combo normally $49.95 but as you can see, Amazon has quite the deal on that item. I also got the ezeStand with the additional right-angle USB cord for $15.99 with free shipping. The stand has a small magnet in the rear which activates the Droid's "car dock" mode. You can toggle this by shifting the droid 1/4" in either direction. I really recommend this item if you need a desk cradle, for the money it's really a good thing and the 6 foot right-angle USB cable is great. Next I'm thinking about that 2800mAh battery combo deal with the special case that fits over it. It will integrate with my existing hip holster thing... but $89.95 is still a bit high I think... everyone says that battery is the bees' knees... |

Yup, once ya enter the world of smart phones,'or pocket computers really, there's no goin back, you're doomed. Before long you'll see someone with a "regular cell phone" and wonder what's wrong with them and how they get thru the day. |

I've been posting off mine for almost as long as Ben. I'm on my 3rd (2G, 3G, 3GS) and plan on getting the new one in a few months. 99% of all my business outside of work is done from my phone. I post items for sale on eBay with my iPhone, buy from eBay or elsewhere with it, post here, yadayada. I don't see a need (or desire) for me to get something else. |
