oh man I was laughing so hard at that first one I had tears running down my face! I couldn't finish it because I was gasping for air through such hard laughter!
As a drummer, I'm a little envious of the first guy's moves. He over does it a little bit, BUT, live music is about being entertained, and stick tricks is part of that (just like playing guitar over your head or with your teeth or whatever). I really can't do any, but the crowd LOVES it when a drummer does it. The stuff that guy is doing might get a little old if he's like that for every song, but, as hugh pointed out, he keeps tempo great despite the "extras".
The comments on that Neil Peart vid are funny as s**t
"since neil peart is surrounded by drums...how does he get in...he probably parachutes down from space and lands directly on the seat and commences his drumming"
"Neil Peart is so good, he could play on a trash can and a dead hooker and make it sound amazing".
with all that activity.... you think he would burn a few more calories.
Funny you should say that - some British firm did a study and found that drumming for a rock concert (read: high activity drumming) keep the heart rate in the aerobic category (depends on age but something around 140-160bpm) and can burn as much as 600 calories an hour.
Portnoy was the late Jimmy "the rev" Sullivan of Avenged Sevenfolds major influence. When the Rev died at 28 several months ago, Portnoy was asked and accepted the job of filling in on the album and up coming tour.
C-Cab & Limme Chop what more could you want. John Henry "Bonzo" Bonham (31 May 1948 – 25 September 1980) was an English drummer and songwriter, best known as the drummer of Led Zeppelin. Bonham was esteemed for his speed, power, fast right foot, distinctive sound, and "feel" for the groove. He is considered to be one of the greatest drummers in the history of rock music by other musicians and commentators in the industry.
Ben, your brother is a beast! i have watched that video a few times before. but you have to tell me why he has his hood up on his hoody? that has to be hotter than a mofo.
Haha Jim I am not sure why his hood was up. He actually cut that hair off and just has it spiked up the middle. If you ever get the chance to see them, go for it. They just did a show in Manheim Pa for their hometown crowd tonight, it was sick. Keep your eyes open, they brought a camera crew in for it and are going to make a video from the show so it should be out soon.
