wondering if somebody from a dealership could help me out. I'm looking for a Tuber rear rotor... ordered one from a sponsor more that three weeks ago and then found out it wasn't in stock, Called my dealership and got the standard 7-10 days answer but it sounds like they get them from the same place, should I leave the order alone and wait or could I get it quicker? Bike is in pieces so I'd really like to get her back together. Thanks

Unless you find a dealer with one in stock (physically on a shelf)...you're gonna have the same 7-10 "vendor direct" ship time for HD to get it from the brake-rotor-maker.

Try American Sport Bike.

Thanks, that is who I have it ordered from... unfortunately it's been almost a month and they have no idea when it might come in.

My suggestion is stick with American Sport Bike

If anybody can get the part, Al can. If it takes a while, then that's how long it takes. He's not the kind of guy who drops the ball.

That's what I was thinking, I guess I didn't realize they were at the same mercy of the MoCo as us. I can't believe they are in such short supply that I'm actually waiting for the vendor to make/send them to HD and onto American Sport Bike!!

Well, look at it another way.

Why would anyone *stock* (i.e. take up shelf space with) a rotor for a bike that's at least 8 years old (the last of the tubers). Based on your profile, you're talking a 12 year old bike.

Not that it's a bad thing - one of mine is 12; another is 15 years old. Love 'em both : )

At least we have a "vendor direct" option. Too many times rebuilding turbo Dodge cars (with various Lotus OEM parts or oddball Garrett turbos), I've run into the "NS1" designation - discontinued, unavailable, SOL. Vendor direct? Sure, it might take a while, but at least it'll get made for you.

How bad's the rotor? Get a cheap set of sacrificial pads if it's just gouged, and keep riding until your new rotor comes in (and install it with new pads). Long as the mounting system (bolts/washers/etc) is good...pads are cheap. Ride the sucker : )

some dealers have a "vintage harley parts" supplier somewhere in Wisconsin that I cant seem to find on the net right now. but my dealer was able to get me the discontinued race spring set for the XB's and it was only about 3 days and still at stock pricing. ($80 for a front and rear spring set)

Vintage Parts is a HD "dealer" of sorts. They are a repository of a lot of obsolete parts. They're part of the HD dealer network but do not sell to customers, they are only a supply house to dealers. Sometimes, if a dealer does a part search on H-Dnet, it will come back with the other dealer locations and "this part is also available at Vintage Parts" if they have it.

Sooo 5 weeks and still no news...

I have the other bike so I'm not about to go the the hassle and exspense of putting the old one back on and going through another set of pads, bolts, etc...

back to my original question can anybody at a dealership punch this in and see what the status is??

Found one! I actually had a couple options to choose from too.

don't wait as long as I did to order something like this if you know you'll need it... the 7-10 days like they give you at the dealer doesn't mean what it used to! Al and Joanne were very helpful but were getting the same story from HD.

If anyone else is looking for one pm me for my source!
