By the way, Congress is now in the process of voting to end Don't Ask, Don't Tell... Hmmm…seems to me that they kicked the can right back to POTUS, SecDef & JCS Chairman…
quote: (2) The President transmits to the congressional defense committees a written certification, signed by the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, stating each of the following: (A) That the President, the Secretary of Defense, and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff have considered the recommendations contained in the report and the report’s proposed plan of action. (B) That the Department of Defense has prepared the necessary policies and regulations to exercise the discretion provided by the amendments made by subsection (f). (C) That the implementation of necessary policies and regulations pursuant to the discretion provided by the amendments made by subsection (f) is consistent with the standards of military readiness, military effectiveness, unit cohesion, and recruiting and retention of the Armed Forces. (c) No Immediate Effect on Current Policy- Section 654 of title 10, United States Code, shall remain in effect until such time that all of the requirements and certifications required by subsection (b) are met.If these requirements and certifications are not met, section 654 of title 10, United States Code, shall remain in effect.
Translation = “You 3 sign off that everything is ready & in place to support the repeal of DADT, and we’ll take up legislation to do so. Until then, we ain’t doing a dang thing and DADT remains in place.” |

P.S. As to the origin of this thread, I'm trying to remain indifferent. On the 1 hand, I'm slightly disheartened that POTUS isn't upholding tradition of laying a wreath at the tomb of the unknowns. On the other hand, I'd rather the folks there on Monday be focused on those who are to be remembered, not on the politics, and POTUS' absence may make that possible for some. In the end, IMHO, Monday is about those men & women who sacrificed all for those of us who remain to honor them. It's not about if POTUS is at Arlington laying a wreath, or somewhere else doing something else. YMMV. |

What I will say, is since this guy got in office, my clients of Russian brides that want to come to the US has plummetted to below HALF of the previous level. It ought to tell you something when people from around the world look here and say NOPE, I think I will look elsewhere. And the latest batch of retirees out of Redmond are headed to Costa Rica.... |

"Well for starters any of us who oppose your views are called socialists or compared to dictators." Typical dishonest characterization. The accurate version would be... Well for starters any of us who express views supporting socialist policy are called socialists and said socialist policies are compared to those of socialist dictators. |

Thank you Tom R., Tom McC, and Jeff. I sure do appreciate taking up for the integrity of the forum and for honest debate. Toronto, I've not lived with parents since leaving home after high school in order to put myself through university in Dallas, Texas at that conservative school Char mentioned, SMU. Whereupon I arrived with over $10K in the bank from working since I was 13 years old mowing lawns, painting houses, and tending gas pumps and service station. Half of everything I earned went into the bank. After having put myself through university, traveled the world (Ontario, British Columbia, Mexico, Brazil, England, France, Portugal, UAE, Japan, S. Korea; worked successfully with customers the world over including Russia on multi-million dollar contracts; been married for 25+ years, own two homes, and lived and am living a very full life, it's a damn queer thing to see the outright lies and malicious insult levied at me by those like your miserable self who have never met me or have the slightest inkling of who I am as a person. The outright mean-spiritedness surely is indicative of a serious lack of character. Unfortunately, mere disagreement is justification enough for some to wage hateful personal attack. It's a common tactic among leftists/socialists. They seek to end the debate of ideas in favor of trying to intimidate the opposition. Pathetic, miserable, and a clearer announcement of defeat in the debate of ideas does not exist. Socialists suck. |

"A dismal record of repeated blatant dishonesty" can be equally applied to Bush 2" Bull! I dare you to support that accusation. You won't, on account of you cannot, at least not honestly. Undoubtedly you pull out the blatantly false accusation that he lied about WMDs in Iraq. When the entire free world and our congress agreed, it isn't a lie. |

Precisely the reason . . .after learning here that all my formal education and accomplishments, were "worthless compared to "real world"" experience" . . I simply laugh at these threads and walk away. Always reminds me of the book "Arguing with Idiots". |

How to kill recruitment in America's armed forces: Force normal men and women to cohabitate (live, sleep, eat, work, shower, dress, undress) with openly queer homosexuals. The idea is ludicrous. I suppose the armed forces in response to liberal meddling will establish separate barracks for the homos. Then the libs will be outraged at that. |

I have a head? Which one?
Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), who represents the district in which the BP explosion occurred, said he tried reaching the president last Thursday to discuss possible solutions. “He was called back by a staffer on Friday who said that the president was too busy to talk to him. He understood that until I turned on the TV and saw that he was golfing and went out to California to do a fundraiser. He said — six days now and he’s never even spoken to him," McCarthy said. http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/1 00279-mccarthy-obama-hasnt-returned-call-of-gulf-l awmaker |

Golfing can be quite entertaining if you remember to bring along a .22 caliber rifle. When bored shoot at things. There are usually squirrels aplenty and if the time of year is right, they are good eats. It is considered bad form to clean and gut them on the greens. |

I vehemently oppose "don't ask/don't tell". I consider it essentially Clintonian.... It aint a lie iffn they caint ask you. At heart dishonest and foul. Also living a lie leaves you open to blackmail. The Soviets trained hookers of both sexes to seduce western diplomats & servicemen. They really liked it when it was a homosexual sting, they had more leverage. A lot of secrets, codes, plans were stolen to cover up the shame..... Institutionalizing dishonesty has no positive result. ( except a cheating lier a few admins ago got a few votes ) No need for any new regulations. Having sex on duty is wrong. Already. Sexual harassment, already wrong. etc. Besides, if they are silly enough to have a volunteer mostly gay unit...( they won't I'll bet, not officially.... But off the record? ) that's the perfect one to send to the middle east or anywhere the "unclean" can do psyops just by being there. The Xena Brigade Rules! Really just imagine a taliban stronghold being reduced to rubble by an all lady tank unit! My Mother ( we disagree almost totally on politics....but this I really like ) says we should go into the Afghan villages, take the guns away from the men, and give them to the women. You go Girl! If a S. Korean soldier has issues, I'm sure he'll get over them when he's calling for artillery on the N. Korean Horde. You don't have to be pro-gay to be pro honesty. Char, please post a pic of the loaded bike here. Blake, Perhaps there will be recruiting issues, we'll adapt. Your argument is an echo of the Demorat's arguments against black troops. No insult intended, but when your argument mirrors the argument of evil people, You may want to reconsider. There WERE issues, but the Red Tailed Mustangs did more than honorable duty in WW2. (Tuskegee Airmen ) I really doubt that official all gay units will happen, but I bet they do happen, Quietly, I hope. The Chenille covers on the Strykers are a giveaway, I suppose. Also, Blake, As long as Obama is attending some service Monday, somewhere, It's fine with me he's not at Arlington. I'd be happy if he spent the rest of his term in Pyongyang. You want to pick on "going on vacation" right after assuring us "I will not rest" ( on multiple issues ) I'm with you on the mockumentary. Char, I have real issues with McCain. I thought he was selected to fail by the media, but haven't been able to find the news video from before the New Hampshire primary to prove my point.... So it's just opinion. Have you read Hillary's thesis? It's glowing praise for Alinsky. Very revealing. I wonder what Barack's was about? I wonder if we'll ever know? (Message edited by aesquire on May 28, 2010) |

Sorry, you mis-spelled weasel. Or did you mean vessel? ( though that doesn't make sense? ) Ok, I'm with you. We also have to free another 50 million people from tyranny, recover from a recession started by his predecessor, and reduce unemployment to %5 or so. ( I'd also like to skip the banker bailouts if we could ) Really, though, I've had enough of Bush, could we have Condi Rice instead? Please? |

Not some "theory" or some label or some set of random beliefs I had shoved down my throat... I come from a very conservative, very educated and very well to do family... not like that really makes me any different from anyone else... it does not... But I do know this... I was somewhere around 19 years old at a Southern (conservative) Methodist university when I began to question what I had been told my entire life... WOW, what do you know, it is all part of becoming an ADULT... I remember one conversation when my dad called me and said (one of the few times he actually spoke to me man to man so to speak)during the first Presidential election after I was 18... "You are going to vote for the right person, aren't you?"... and me, being raised a young Republican, I said "Absolutely"... and I did. And I got quite a thrill out of knowing that my vote cancelled his out... him with all his money and all his power and all his snobbery... I was equal as an adult under the law... I will never forget that. Man, I knew my gut was right. You punish the rest of us because your dad did a piss poor job of teaching you and set a bad example. Thanks alot dad. |

while on the uss lasalle back in 78, we had an incident where a boiler tech came on board after a night out drinking and being asked by one of the chief if he'd like a tour of the bridge. of course being in engineering, you don't have that many opportunities to check that area of the ship out so he agreed. well he was so drunk that he passed out somewhere around the bridge and since we were in drydock, there wasn't no one standing watch up there. when he finally came to, he realized that this chief was going down on him and comensed to beat the tar out of this guy. not much of the exact details were really let out and the "BT" didn't remember much but the next morning this chief was heading for another duty station. this was kept pretty quiet for the most part. had the bt known what kind of person this guy was, he more than likely would have stayed away from him. back then a lot of things stayed hushhush and you just didn't talk about it and didn't bring it up although you can pretty much tell which ones were. their just opening up another can of worms imo but you never know. |

Blake, Perhaps there will be recruiting issues, we'll adapt. Your argument is an echo of the Democrat's arguments against black troops. No insult intended, but when your argument mirrors the argument of evil people, You may want to reconsider. There WERE issues, but the Red Tailed Mustangs did more than honorable duty in WW2. (Tuskegee Airmen ) Those issues were due to blatant evil, bigotry due to nothing but the color of one's skin, something entirely benign and superficial. The issue of having to live in intimate fashion in the company of homos is not superficial or benign. It is a very real justifiable threat to unit cohesion and morale, especially when homosexuals are allowed to behave openly homosexual around you, like in the shower, at the latrine, dressing/undressing, nope, that is a WHOLE other situation. The first time a homo is caught looking lustfully at one of his fellow marines or soldiers or sailors... are you #$%ing kidding me? You want to allow that kind of nonsense in our military? I have no issue with allowing homosexuals in the military, but to allow them to behave in openly homosexual fashion is unacceptable. It seems insane. If they mandate it, then will they also not need to mandate complete unisex policy across the entire military? What's the difference? Men and women all together, no special accommodations whatsoever, the Hollywood dream. It has no place in the military. I could be wrong. |

Dave, you're much smarter than to ignore the role of the legislative branch. Casting bait is fun sometimes though I suppose. Liberating Iraq from terrorists is a problem for some. It's not honest to portray Bush as a liar; at least I've yet to see any serious evidence that he lied about anything of import during his presidency. Obama is a serial liar, pathological in nature. Thanks to youtube, the evidence is there for all to see. Tack on to his dishonesty his frightening incompetence and socialist/redistribbutive ideology and an utter disregard for the will of the America people, and you have yourself as near to a dictator as America has seen. He didn't get elected on his true beliefs. He conned a huge portion of the electorate and rode a huge anti-Bush, anti-Republican sentiment to electoral victory. The logic in heralding Obama over Bush wrt economic issues is beyond logic. Obama is the one who thrust upon us a near trillion dollar "stimulus" program. When the Bush administration pushed it, Obama and all his Democrat shills in congress voted against reforming Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Should Bush have pushed the issue harder? Yes. But when just months prior to their collapse we had corrupt, lying, idiots like Dodd and Franks telling us that FM&FM are just fine and dandy, a great investment, well, failing to place a hearty portion of the blame on them where it belongs is unconscionable. These were the jokers who were running the congressional committees in charge of overseeing FM&FM. One was getting sweetheart deals, the other was @#$^ing a fellow homosexual employee at the failing institutions. But... it was Bush's fault? (Message edited by blake on May 29, 2010) |

Why is sexuality even an issue in the military? You don't join the Army to get laid, do you? Come on, let everybody serve, and let them keep their mouths shut about their sex lives! If ANY activity engaged in by a soldier becomes disruptive to the unit, then take action. If I was a commanding officer, I wouldn't want ANY of my soldiers having sex with each other! Davegess, if you think Bush was a liar, then what do you think about the current President? If you can see so clearly, you must see what is going on RIGHT NOW. Whether the past was better or worse, it's stupid to live there. |

DG, Why do you deflect the topic of this thread? It is so reminiscent of how children argue back to their parents. You hate Bush. That is fine and it is in your right to do so. Start your own thread about Bush but those topics have been beaten to death. The person in power is Obama, not Bush. You are obviously suffering from BDS. But take heart, there is a cure! It is called truth and being open to the fact that your world view is crumbling because a Socialist is attempting to destroy this country. Every single day. You appear to be in denial but Americans are daily awakening to the fact that they have been deceived by this Socialist. We welcome you to join us. Obama is toast and our job is to weaken his power to minimize the damage caused by him until he can be removed from office. Start your own Bush bashing thread.
