At 1:40 something he passed a trooper and the he didn't move this plain clothes officer is a loose cannon and needs to be let go. He endangered himself and others unnecessarily no doubt. Some citizen could have called in an armed bike jacking and brought an even bigger problem to the scene. |

Why is it the officer's fault? Why is not the jack azz riding like an azz? If you choose to break the law, man up!! |

I'm not sure it's the officer's "fault" . . . but if the fellow on the bike had put 2 rounds in the officers chest he would have been 100% justified in doing so. The officer acted unprofessionally, in fact stupidly, be leaping out of an unmarked car in plain clothes, not identifying himself and assuming a terrible tactical position facing a fellow with a firearm visible. How . . . I wonder . . would all those Badwebbers who always talk about carrying rapidly deployable weapons have responded? The officers stupidity, poor training and lack of knowledge to not excuse the motorcyclists infraction of speeding. But we are not seeking some sort of "transgression parity" where an officer is justified in pulling a weapon because someone committed a misdemeanor that would go away for $25. Bad judgement. I'm generally not a fan of the ACLU but in this case I hope they take this one up the cops ass sideways particularly since all the other charges and searches were done in an attempt to intimidate and as retribution. No reason to think the biker didn't "man up" that I can see. |

I thought in Maryland (at least in the 80's) an officer had to be in either a marked car or uniform for a routine traffic stop. |

Did anyone notice how fast the plain clothe officer put his weapon back in the holster when he saw the trooper pull up behind the bike? I bet the guy was off duty...I need to look at the video again but it looks like he gets out of a chevy malibu...The chevy police cars sold are impalas. This cop is no more than a cowboy and wants to get the big pat on the back. He need his shield taken from him. He is damn lucky the other cop did not put on in his chest!!! |

Well we only know he was riding like a jackass cause we saw it on tape the state police officer he passed doing radar didn't see him and didn't react. The officer who was plain clothed should have followed and reported or just taken his plate or #77 and called it in just like the law is designed so there is no confusion. He created confusion and endangered the public I have no problem with the law bringing in dopes they should . But the situation the plain clothed officer caused here was not warrented and dangerous to the public. I know he saw the guy being an ass but it doesn't matter he should not have reacted the way he did because there were imho 5 safer ways to handle this that I can think of and I am not a cop. |

Ok... I should have clarified, I did not watch the video before I commented. I had no idea what tactics the officer was using or the actions he took. I just assumed people were upset that A) an officer took action and B) they didn't like Maryland's laws... Carry on! (Message edited by Paint_shaker on May 30, 2010) |

If I thought I was being approached by a road-rager with a gun (seams like that from my take of the video) I would not have been trying for reverse. If I was in fear for my life, I'd put him back into the car with my bike. I can get another bike. Hard to shoot a 700 pound moving target when it's eating your lunch. Practice that at the range. OK, This one just ticked me off again. I like honest hard working police officers. This clown should not be a police officer. +1 on the aclu should run with this one. |

Wow, I agree with the ACLU. That's rare in the 21st century. Let me see If I can translate the officers words.... "I'm threatening you, I'm threatening you, now I will identify myself after I've laid hands on you & your machine." I can't tell if the officer had flashing lights or was somehow signaling a pull over. I lack info for a proper judgment. The "crime of wiretapping" however, is so bogus.... not that wiretapping is a great thing, but that you would apply that law to video taping reality & the police. BOGUS. |

The wiretapping law is legitimate. This application of it isn't. I'm pretty sure that an incidental, accidental taping of LEOs was not what the law was intended to prevent. The District Attorney, prompted by the local LEOs in order to save face, is seeking to enforce the most obscure law possible in order to bully this individual. Yes he rode like a jack ass. Write him a ticket and send him on his way. The rest of the charges should be dropped. The ACLU will win this one. |

I thought in Maryland (at least in the 80's) an officer had to be in either a marked car or uniform for a routine traffic stop. You don't have to stop at all for an unmarked car. The Maryland wiretap law covers videotaping and voice recording between two private individuals. The bullying of this citizen wont go far. Typical Gestapo tactics coming out of Annapolis. To the left of Lenin these clowns are. |

when the full video(the third/last one in the original post)starts, the car in front of him appears to be the gray malibu and it is on the other side at the front of the white bus that he wheelies by and looks to be at the 100+ mph mark for the next few seconds. I would imagine that the gray malibu off duty officer at that point called in the bike and his location, then at the 1:07 point of the video you see him pass the marked car sitting in the median. The marked car probably takes off when the dispatcher reports the bike description, location and direction he is heading. The gray malibu guy definitely overreacts after the bike stops and you can see him change his attitude when he notices the marked car pull up to the scene. Thank God he at least didn't shoot first and ask questions later like the video someone put on where the Cruiser rider gets shot in the back for turning his head. |

I know how this sounds, but the moment someone jumps out of a car holding a gun and not wearing a badge truthfully it'd be fight or flight for me. I'm not saying that my first instinct would be to fire on the guy, but I am sure it also wouldn't be that he was a plain-clothes LEO, even though he claimed that. So if I ride off, would he be justified in planting a couple of 40's in my back? Even an off-duty LEO cannot wave his gun around in a malicious manner without committing a felony--not sure if it would hold up but Brandishment should hold up for a PC LEO if he didn't identify himself. And what the hell kind of training did this guy take? Cop or not, you don't draw unless you are prepared to take a life. |

I'd pin the throttle and dump the clutch as soon as he got in front of me. I'd get shot. That said... Did he see the cop car behind him? Did that unmarked car have a "G" license? |

M1combat, If you didn't rev it twice, chances are good he wouldn't hit you. My problem would be, not taking his gun away and shooting him with it. I have trouble coming back down when things get escalated. (I don't stop well) |

Ourdee, I definitely have to agree with you, I've been known to have a slight issue with anger levels steadily increasing in relation to the wrong things happening. In this situation someone would have gotten hurt and it sure as hell wouldn't have been me. Holy crap, I know he did a little baby wheelie and was speeding, but good god that cop must have forgot his daily medication. I hope he looses his badge, gets kicked in the ass by another bikers steel toe, and is forever stuck behind a counter asking if I want fries with that. most COPS PISS ME THE HELL OFF!! |

I probably would have gotten pissed but would not have started a fight. I would have asked when the uniformed officer approached, was the wheelie worth you drawing your weapon on me when exiting your car? What do you think Mr. in uniform officer? |

If I was in my car when a guy cut me off and pointed a gun at me, screaming.... I'd have rammed him into tomorrow. Assuming I didn't even suspect it was a peace officer...which, if I had just hammered around a few cars speeding in my Jetta...would be kind of on my mind eh? Big mother fraking assumption...and unlikely, really, ( I HOPE ) that I'd be that much a idiot. YMMV. On a Cyclone? probably not the same reaction. I'm not that confident in my ability to have a collision on a bike & get away from bad guy with gun... in a car, Splat! I certainly would be yelling for help from the uniformed cop on sight. "help! help! look out He's Got A GUN!!! Save me kind Officer! Save me!" Probably like a little girl. ( Not Hit Girl... she rocks! ) |

"Officer! He's got a GUN!" would be my approach too. I would probably just freeze on the controls for fear of making that tool twitch his index finger. |

the good cops often get pushed out of the job by the bad ones, idiots like this all to often get promoted. start at the top of his dept and i bet you find the root cause of the problem. the best real lawman i ever met was forced out of his position for being honest! crazy world! |
