So on my way home from work yesterday I saw what I hope is a rare occurrence of the dreaded Buell Squid. The squid in question was riding a Black 1125R. The problem is he was wearing a white tee shirt khaki shorts and what looked like Crocs. Oh and no helmet at least he had sunglasses

Spiderman saw someone on a CR with similar attire the other day. I got a photo of a guy on a Firebolt who used to commute by my house every day that was mostly squidding it up but haven't seen him in ages. |

I don't ride without gear anymore. The one time i had on sandals, shorts, and a tank top. I did have a helmet on though, But a cat ran out and into my front wheel. It lodged in the spokes and i went down hard and got major rash. |

I think (and mind you i know its not all) that the 1125s are magnets for squids everywhere. At least they don't have helmet locks. (to my knowledge) It was 90 here on Sunday and i saw at least 6 bikes fly by with pretty Shoie helmets firmly mounted to the sides. If you are going to put a 400 dollar accessory on your bike it may as well be an exhaust. |

"So far, 16445 people (including you) have responded to this Squid Test Survey and have been tabulated. Of those responses, the average grade is 53. Your grade was 21 (from 0 to 100), and 0 out of the 115 questions were left un-answered. The average number of questions answered in this test is 47. A higher grade indicates a stronger sense of common decency, and a lower grade is an indication of conspicuous squidliness and general disregard for civilized society. Your score indicates that you are a complete fool with no sense of responsibility of propriety, and a glaring discredit to their genre. Your test answers seem a bit skewed however. Are you sure you properly answered ALL the questions on the form?" Had to see what it would say if I thought like a squid. Apparently Squids like duct tape, I thought that and bailing wire was a harley thing. |

I had to laugh at question # 93 (When confronted with a barrier across a small bridge do you) True Story: I was on a group ride down in VA two years ago. The ride master had ridden the route the weekend before and all was well. About 2/3 of the way through his route, out in the middle of nowhere, a wooden bridge had barriers up on it. The DOT had decided to redeck the bridge that week. The end of the day on Friday came around and they had about four feet of deck (in the center of the span)to finish. Well, we "finished" it for 'em. We took down the barriers, filled the gap by dropping 3' long scraps of decking, they had cut off and left in a pile, across the steel backbone of the bridge. Our group rode across, removed the temporary decking, reset the barriers and went on our merry way... (Message edited by rwven on May 25, 2010) |

I answered truthfully, though on some questions I wanted to choose more then one answer. I got a 75. "Your score indicates that you are a halfway decent rider and wise-ass who is way too narcissistic his or her own good." I don't really agree with the narcissistic part, but I do have some squid-like tendencies. |

tehe A higher grade indicates a stronger sense of common decency, and a lower grade is an indication of conspicuous squidliness and general disregard for civilized society. Your score indicates that you are a fairly responsible motorcyclist but a bit of a wise-ass. |

Taxonomy: Via Architeuthis (The Great Street Squid) Habitats: Local bike shops, street corners, backroads (With no curves) Coloring: Bright, loud, obnoxious. Commonly the male of the species has multiple anodized bike parts that match the coloration of the rest of the bike. Colors may vary, but are generally offensive to the eye. Locomotion: Most often seen on a large bore bike with tires in poor condition. (In the center, the sides are most often unused.) Can be seen quickly accelerating in a straight line. This species seems to have great trouble with negotiating turns. Current theory seems to lean towards the possibility that the cognitive time/space abilities are not fully developed. Either that or a lack-o-skill. Tests are being done to fully explore the divergent theories. Growth & Habits: The growth of the male of the species seems to be arrested around the 12th year of life. This can be seen quite clearly when observing the critter in it's favorite habitat....a motorcycle speed shop. The obvious posturing and crowing are for the purposes of determining relative ranking within the pack. (Similar to a wolf pack...only wolves don't squeak.) Reproduction: let's hope not. Adaptations: Custom paintjobs on the vehicle of choice and helmet. Race takeoff tires The standard 'No Fear' decals to make said vehicle go faster. (Good for 10+mph) T-shirt & Shorts Short lifespan Feeding: Fast food High Octane gas |
