okay, you've got me on that one. i agree that this product has it's niche, but i am too stingy to shell out a few extra dollars to save my life in the event of the unfortunate. ... i'd rather die with those dollars clenched in my cold fist. | ||

It's a cool as heck device, but they only sell service in yearly increments. I need it a few weeks a year, and can't justify the cost for that little of time. Plus they are completely sold out of them? | ||

Its on the bike when ever I go off grid. In the areas I ride, there is not cell phone coverage.... hell most of the time the GPS is inaccurate. | ||

Now it's tempting. Reason for the rebate, and the many stores sold out, is because the second generation version was ready for production at the end of last year, but ran into issues. So now many shops are waiting for that one to come out and not stocking the first gen. And the manufacturer is discounting the first gen's to move them out before the new ones come into play.
