Jon Flickinger, Buell President and Chief Operating Officer, announces plans to retire After 15 years of service, Jon Flickinger, President and COO of Buell Motorcycle Company and Senior Vice President of HDMC, has announced his plans to retire effective June 11, 2010. “Jon has served in several key leadership roles with the Motor Company including five years as Vice President of North American Sales and the last five years as President and COO of Buell Motorcycle Company. He has been instrumental in bringing leadership to both the Harley-Davidson and Buell brands,” said Keith Wandell, President and CEO, Harley-Davidson, Inc. “He displayed great leadership when management made the difficult decision to dissolve Buell. We thank Jon for his dedication and contributions to the Company and wish him much future success and happiness.” “This was a difficult decision for me. Keith offered me a position at the Motor Company which I strongly considered, but I have decided that I need to take time off to spend with my family and explore what I want to do in the future,” said Jon. “I want to thank my friends and colleagues, and of course our dealers, for the many great relationships and all that we together have accomplished for our mutual customers. I am sure I will miss all of you and wish you the best as you seek to fulfill customers’ dreams.” Please wish Jon and his family all the best after a very successful career at the Motor Company. he's a hell of a good guy and i am glad to know him!!! good luck Flick! see you at homecoming (hopefully!!!) |

I'm amazed he work side by side with Wendall for as long as he did...He is a much bigger and better man than I am. I would have been fired and arrested assault. Quote..."I have decided that I need to take time off to spend with my family and explore what I want to do in the future" Yeah maybe join forces with EB and his next line of sportbikes!!! |

Good for him! If he is going to retire completely, not just from HD hope he enjoys all the things he wants to do without a job getting in the way. If he is just "switching gears" so to speak I wish only the best for him in his next endeavor. If I was him I'd want outta there too, he is waaaay to smart of a guy to hang out with the tools in charge of HD right now. I'll never forget watching him ride BattleTrax, that was too cool Flick! To be the new leader of Buell at the time, in front of a whole bunch of rabid Buell riders, going out on the BattleTrax course, knowing he would be crucified if he sucked, showed he had guts. And the man can ride! |

"explore what I want to do in the future" I hope that includes ramming a world class sport bike directly up Wandell's ass. |

Maybe Wandell's trying to get rid of everyone who knows more about motorcycles than him. . . . . . which could eventually leave only him and the second-shift Guatemalan cleaning woman. |

It is a fact that when there is a change in ownership or major change in management 90% of the management staff will be gone inside of one year. H-D is probably right on schedule. |

So much to say . . . . For now I'll just leave it at this. Jon Flickinger, since the day I met him, has always embodied, in my eye, the Buell Values. In all of the dealings I've ever had with him he's been beyond fair, professional, honest and his integrity is above reproach. He impressed me the first time I met him, on a Friday night at a Buell Homecoming, when he said he could not join us the following day because of a family commitment. The moment he let me know how important his family was I had a darn good read on him. I was impressed, when the 100,000th Buell was to be built, that he arranged for Vickie and I to be there. We were the only two "civilians" in the house, but Flick told me "you really needed to be with us". A class act in good times and bad times who retained his integrity. I am proud to have known him and had the chance to work with him. Jon is a polished and professional businessman of the highest caliber. I'm betting we'll be hearing great things from him. Personally, I am thrilled to see him free, for whatever reason, that is the vile that is becoming Harley-Davidson Motor Company. I have nothing but the best wishes for Flick and don't be too certain of your pick in the Miller v. Flick "ride off" . . . they are both accomplished riders. Congratulations Jon! Court Canfield |
