After the speech, you can tell who actually read the bill and who didn't: standing clappers = didn't read it seated non-clapping = read and understood it What other Nations' Presidents got to speak on the floor of congress? | ||

I woke up yesterday to the screeching of Obama speaking Spanish. Nice pandering, dude. Calderon has some chutzpah denouncing our country. Mexico treats their illegals shamefully. I remember being on a Mexican bus and the federales came on board with guns, racially profiled the gringos, and removed my buddy from the bus because his tourist card had been improperly filled out by the jefe when he came in country. He spent time in a Chetumal jail where illegals from Honduras were rotting in the cell. How dare Obama and Calderon talk this smack. | ||

Congress should tell Calderon that his visit is inspiring and that the US is going to implement the same immigration laws his country has. | ||

I saw him interviewed on CNN and he stated their laws changed as of a year ago. (mexico's immigration laws) | ||

Mexico's criminal legal system is fairly "Napoleonic" in that there is a presumption of guilt rather than a presumption of innocence. That's why it's very easy to get thrown in jail there. In the USA, of course, we operate under a common law presumption of innocence. Some folks criticize the AZ immigration law as approaching a betrayal of that presumption. Many other world leaders have spoken before joint sessions of Congress during state visits, which Calderon's visit is. | ||

I respect Calderon's attempts to take on the Narco Terrorists. I don't appreciate him criticizing our immigration laws especially when his facts are incorrect. Leftists tend to suffer from ADD and are easily swayed by lies. | ||

FYI, Calderon himself is not a "lefty". His party, PAN, is center-right and Christian Democratic. | ||
