Unless this guy's in marketing, he missed his true calling.

-----------
Do you desire awesomeness? Does modern society leave you with a phantom limb itch that you can’t scratch? This motorcycle is the cure.

The 2006 Honda XR650L was bad ass enough to begin with. The king of 650cc thumpers, this bike has 13 inches of ground clearance, so you can ride up a mountain of human skulls if necessary. The Pro-link Showa suspension and 11” of suspension travel front and back gives you the confidence to deorbit from the space station, and ride this bike through the mach 30 reentry plasma wake all the way to the ground.

But I wasn’t satisfied with “bad ass enough.” So I put a 4.7 gallon Clarke gas tank on the bike. Because when you’re carrying an Italian supermodel out of zombie-infested Prague, the last thing you want to have to say is “sorry baby, we’ve gone 50 miles- I need to find a gas station.” Which you don’t even know how to say in Italian. F that. No, you want to go like 100- no wait, maybe even 150- miles before needing more gas.

Then there’s the National Cycle Street Shield EX windscreen. Whether dodging volcanic tephra (look it up) or outrunning ninja assassins, your active lifestyle requires situational awareness. This windscreen gives you ten pounds of situational awareness in a five pound bag.

There are other amazing mods- including Pirelli MT90 tires, rejetted carb, and Cortech bags- but the Pièce de résistance (literally, “seizure-inducing coolness”) is the Cycleracks.com rack. This rack was designed for- no joke- elk hunting. Seriously, this baby can handle an entire quarter of an elk. “But Mr. Motorcycle guy,” you whine, “I’ve already killed all the elk within 200 miles of my home. With a pez dispenser.”

No matter. What this rack means to you is that you can carry HUNDREDS of pounds of gear- peanut butter, Krugerrands, .338 Laupa Magnum rounds, toast, owls, KY jelly, whatever. All the other racks out there are for CHUMPS. They mount only on the seat subframe, and if you can find the fine print, they say “if you load us with more than 10 or 20 pounds, we will cry.” How do you rebuild civilization with 20 pounds of stuff?!? Look at the pictures. Look how the rack mounts both high AND low at the pillion footpeg mount. That is called LEVERAGE, and it is your friend.

Because my mission in life is to spread joy and self-actualization across the face of the earth, I will sell you this bike for only $4300, or the best offer that you can make that doesn’t insult either of us. It has 9935 miles of adventure seeped into every weld and bolt, including a 3000 mile odyssey across the American west involving Seattle, banana slugs, San Francisco, cougars, Sonora Pass, casinos, Salt Lake City, Ducks, and soul-searing self-knowledge. Perhaps you heard about it? Yup, it’s that bike.

I am in Issaquah, WA- this is a plus for you, as it will allow you to take your victory ride in and amongst the greatest mountains in N. America, the Cascades. I'm not saying this bike will take you to the top of Mt. Rainier. But I'm NOT saying that it WON'T take you to the top of Mt. Rainier either (hint: Columbia Crest.)

What you have to ask yourself is not “can I afford this bike when the national economic recovery seems to be shallow and hesitant?” No, you have to ask yourself “can I afford not to become the person that I wanted to be when I was six years old, and jumping down from the garage onto the patio wearing a cape?” I think you’ll realize the answer to the second question is a resounding “I want to be that person!” and you will respond to this ad as fast as your nervous and expectant fingers can bang out a reply.

I can lead you to the fountain of possibility, but I can’t make you drink. No, only you can make that decision. Good luck.

I'm guessing he's a talented Microsoft guy who's down on his luck. Hope he sells his bike and is offered a new gig writing copy.

Forget silver tongue, his is platinum.

That's simply the best add I've read to date.
I hope he gets a buyer for it and gets the full $4300.
