HAHA drunk Hex is funny! It WAS pretty obvious, wasn't it? Not nearly so much bantering as usual, just straight to the name calling! Who needs the thin veil of civility?  (Hex, don't mean to poke at you, I really did get a good chuckle!) While I don't personally care either way, maybe a good rule of thumb would be to just move ALL political and religious posts to the backfire and nip the complaining in the bud. Anything that touches on political views (taxes, guns, scandals, whatever). You could use a word filter and call it a day. The people that want to have such discussions would know ahead of time where to look, and there'd be no more "why was this thread moved but not that one?". ~SM (Message edited by Swordsman on May 11, 2010) | ||

Hey Cyclonedon.... who died and left you in charge??? This is the Quick board. Every other forum on this board is about motorcycles. Pictures of, stories about, how to fix, MOTORCYCLES. How about this, instead of your suggestion which would take away a LOT of people's daily enjoyment of random discussions... Why don't YOU just stay OUT of the Quick board? I mean, you just complain about what you read, so WHY read it? I don't go to the Hello Kitty Fanboi Forum because I don't get into Hello Kitty! (much) I don't care where you post or what you read, it's a free country and Blake does a good job at keeping this forum as a platform for the free exchange of ideas. You just bitch and bitch and bitch. If you have a SUGGESTION for the BadWeB, perhaps YOU could post THAT in the CORRECT forum for SUGGESTIONS. hmmm? | ||

I tend to agree with Tom. That said, I also support all our custodians in their efforts to maintain the forum's integrity as best they see fit. That said, none of us are perfect. Some of us are even young and exuberant. Walk softly amigos.  As I value and respect Tom's opinion, so much that he is a prime candidate for custodial status if he ever cared to be saddled with it, thus we'll take a look and review our policy, or make one, concerning Backfired threads. Thanks all. | ||

It would be nice to know why a bunch of threads got moved. They all seem to be political thread, but political threads are still on Quick Board, so I assume that's just coincidence. Those that complain about political threads on a motorcycle board should get just as upset about the car threads, music threads, etc. I even noticed that a frequent complainer of political threads started one of his own the other day. Get real, the Quick Board is the place for misc. discussion. Without non-MC talk this place would get boring and repetitive, especially if people could use the search function better. So why do things die off on the Backfire board? Have too many people gotten restricted from there? What's the deal? | ||

Blake, that was a thoughtful and respectful answer. Thank you. I hope the custodians realize how much effort some of us put into keeping a thread moving forward with logical arguments. It is frustrating for them to be Backfired. Despite claims to the contrary, the fact is that most threads tend to wither once there. (However, partially clad beautiful women never go out of style). The admins have an interesting job in a dynamic sea of push and pull. Most of the time, it is "obvious" when a thread needs to be backfired. Mistakes happen and I understand that. I think a mistake happened but hopefully BF movements can be kept to an absolute minimum. Thanks again, everybody. Now lets get back to work and stop Obama  Surely, everyone can agree with that | ||

Americanmadexb, I agree with the creation of a political thread with the stipulation that the general public not be able to see it. ie. only signed in members could see or post on it. This would satisfy keeping the image of BW up. The nice thing about backfire is that it is just us writing to us, Not the world wide web of naysayers. We police our own. I like that. I am in disagreement with you. With your logic, one would need to create a camera section, an archery section, a movie section, etc. Define what a political section is. Health Care is about health care, right? Who is to say what is political? You? Quickboard is essentially perfect. It is a mishmash of topics, mostly non-motorcycle related. I suggest to those who complain about having the sift through Quickboard topics, that they either need to read/comprehend titles faster or to move their mouse quicker. These complaints smell very similar to the way kids through tantrums: a whole lot of noise and a whole little of substance. For the several hundredth time: if you want to read solely about Buell motorcycles, then only go to the overwhelming majority of Buell-only sections on Badweb.
