I have no guilt, I was enumerated, and no one needed to come and stick a number on my forehead. I would think they could make it more efficient if they used the tax returns and then only send forms to people who do not file taxes or otherwise slip through. That would probably save millions of dollars. A simple additions to the tax forms could cover the enumeration and do it with two or three check boxes at the top. | ||

Do any of you refuse that security check with the same venom you give the enumerator or do you "concede to everything they ask you" and refuse to show your receipt? Good idea!! I guess if enough people refuse it, that will end, but someone may loose their job. Which reminds me... which do you use at supermarket, the self checkout or a real cashier? | ||

I use a cashier. The supermarkets have decided to use self checkouts to cut jobs. People need to look past just the job of a Census worker which I am not against. I am against the Census. The Census probably wont disappear so their will be people that will take that job to get some extra cash and I get that. If the Census does not keep violating the constitution every month of every year I don't have a problem telling a Census worker that two people live in my house. What I am doing is letting the Census and the government know I will not give up my rights on which this country was founded. People need to stand with The Bill of Rights and the Constitution because it is getting taken away from all of us slowly but surely. | ||

How are we to be properly represented if they don't know how many people are to be represented? I don't like the extra questions being asked either, that's why I did the survey, and only answered the questions I thought they needed to know. No one knocking on my door. It's when they're ignored is when they come knocking. | ||

Interesting, I thought it was to reduce lines, improve accuracy of prices and to speed up check out. At least thats how it usually is for me. Once in a while I get stuck behind grandma who doesn't know where to insert her shillings, but that is for another thread. I buy my food online now, costs a bit more but saves me the hassle. Oh wait now Obama is going to track my online food orders and institute a junk food tax. | ||

Listen if you have kids and don't fill this out than blame yourself when your schools are underfunded. Really? They determine school funding based upon census data? Why not just base it upon the number of kids enrolled? Seems simpler to me and you can do it every year instead of once a decade. There was a PSA running on the radio telling people to fill out the form or else the city might not have enough busses. Again, really? They buy busses based on the number of residents and not the number of riders? Is that the most efficient way? It does explain why we have a bunch of busses running around mostly empty. | ||

It's fine if some people do not want to pull their head out of the sand and look some of the facts. I am not saying to not answer "How many people live in your home"? Answer it. They dont need the other 51 questions or if you got the 34 question or the 5 question Census they dont need to know anymore or any less for the so called funding for schools. That is the test The Census wants to see how many people are willing to give up some of their liberties and rights on answering more and more of questions that are unnecessary for funding. | ||

At least Storkizator is putting two and two together and not just saying, "well they have our best interest at heart" or its for the better" and not really think about some of the tactics they are using. What 51 questions they wanted names ages and ethnicity and poof he left? All of which I gave at the DMV as well. Why not just base it upon the number of kids enrolled? Because they plan ahead and budget. | ||

Well I got a 51 question Census in the mail. I chucked it. Then this last friday Census worker came by left a note and then another one came by Saturday and I sent him on his way with a copy of the 4th amendment. | ||

I normally avoid these political threads, however, I clicked on this one. Now I am curious. What is people's problem with the census? So what's the issue? Every ten years the government counts its citizens. This is 2010 the last census was 2000. This has been going on for over two hundred years. The census I filled out asked how many people live here, own or rent, and race. Ten years ago they also wanted to know if I had indoor plumbing and what I burned for heat. The tax forms are definitely more invasive of privacy. |
