From what i have gathered seems like the GoPro Hero is the video cam of choice for us "casual user" guys. Do you all concur? Pros? Cons? Other options? And a recommended (ie inexpensive) vendor for purchase?

Thanks fellas.

Hmmmm..... Depending on a few factors yes. Still having probelms finding a decent mounting point on my 9R and still waiting for the firmware to give it all the functions that they advertise, firmware is supposed to be out on May 17.

newenough.com has the best price I've seen.
For some great gopro footage, go to youtube and search for gopro.

I bought one last week after seeing 98s1w's footage. Mounted it to my left pod. Thought it was on there good and tight, but halfway through the ride, it let go and smashed to smithereens. So the only thing I can say about them is, if you use the suction cup mount, put a safety lanyard on it, just in case.

Safety lanyard seems like a good idea for most mounts, surprised I haven't wrecked mine yet from plastic failure. The mounts are certainly the weakest link in the whole system. Might have been fine for the lighter older original GoPro, but not for the HD especially when you start to add the bigger battery (if it ever arrives) or the LCD (if it ever arrives).

I saw the same footage from the 1125r board and it got me thinking. I was going to mount on the left pod, where I think he had his mounted as well. Nice video quality, good sound. Safety lanyard sounds like a GREAT idea. I believe he used the suction cup mount, which is supposedly rated to 150 MPH?

Depends - You can buy a suitable 'casual user' micro camera from around $50 now.
