Make them yourself. You can't trust the store-bought ones. |

Received another copy of the American Community Survey in the mail. Interesting and disturbing...
What many Americans don’t realize, is that census workers — from the head of the Bureau and the Secretary of Commerce (its parent agency) down to the lowliest and newest Census employee — are empowered under federal law to actually demand access to any apartment or any other type of home or room that is rented out, in order to count persons in the abode and for “the collection of statistics.” If the landlord of such apartment or other leased premises refuses to grant the government worker access to your living quarters, whether you are present or not, the landlord can be fined $500.00. That’s right — not only can citizens be fined if they fail to answer the increasingly intrusive questions asked of them by the federal government under the guise of simply counting the number of people in the country; but a landlord must give them access to your apartment whether you’re there or not, in order to gather whatever “statistics” the law permits. from... http://blogs.ajc.com/bob-barr-blog/2010/05/26/cens us-workers-can-enter-your-apartment-in-your-absenc e/ |

Yeah, well, remember that it is normal Americans, on average, who are the foot soldiers of the census. They aren't really interested in asking the intrusive questions, just getting the head count. Kind of like the average soldier being asked to gun down protesters over and over, Kent State withstanding, not a likely prospect. Only the real a$$whipes are likely to get the treatment from a lowly enumerator. By the way, the enumerator can only report back to the supervisor if there is an incident that may require the strong arm of the law. You really have to push the issue over and over to earn the fine. |

Yep, which is why most don't push the issue much. |

Who is John Galt? We might be subject to the force of guns by the government. We just got a message on our answering machine from an agent asking for a "Lorraine Renear" (no where close to Laurie Reiner's name) to call back about our census report. At this point, I am guessing that this request is due to my refusal to answer what our race is because it is not Constitutionally mandated. I have submitted detailed information on the Long Form and I am willing to report that two American citizens reside at this address. Unfortunately, the interpretation by this government is that they are not interested in whether we are citizens. Disgraceful. The Lefties can rejoice when reindog is punished but don't worry...they are coming for you next. |

did the democrats invent the census? you all make it sound like this is the first time it's ever been done. has it been done when a republican was in office? were you all as pissed and paranoid then? or is this yet another obama hate thread disguised to look like something else? |

Nah, this is a completely non partisan attitude some get every decade. What race you are, or what your hot water settings are, etc. are very much none of anyones business. Any one with a brain knows why such questions are asked, and it's institutional racism, massive busy body-ness. But it still seems non partisan. I urge no one to ever lie on a govt. form. I admit, I chose multiple races on the short form, but I, like the President, have multiple races in my heritage. Of course, "race" is a concept that is both obsolete and I think inherently evil. By the racist rules ( mostly, but not all, written & pushed by Democrats ) one drop of ( fill in the blank ) blood makes you eligible for exploitation, or Preference......or 1/64th or whatever they were trying to do to screw somebody. So I list myself as Mutt. I think you're being a little sensitive about mild criticism of a fine Alinskyite Community Organizer. It's not like we treat Obama worse than the Iranians, or Chavez, or mock him near as much as Kim, or ( I'm betting ) Putin behind closed doors. And if you want obvious hate..... http://www.realclearpolitics.com/video/2010/05/29/ maher_obama_not_acting_like_a_real_black_president .html Bill used to be funny. He went all psycho-athiest-neocom-hater. I mean, really? |

Rocket, The government keeps growing, growing, growing just like the Blob. If you disagree with it, you will be absorbed. Where in the Constitution does it say that a citizen must submit racial information? I thought that was the WHOLE point of the freedom movements of the Sixties. We would move towards a color blind society where everyone is guaranteed equal OPPORTUNITY. That is not what this is. This is a method for redistribution of our money to so-called protected classes. Why would you not agree with me that this is none of the government's business? I can't understand your mindset of happily and merrily boarding the train to the East. You are the one who made this political, not me. This monster was oozing before Obama took office but people like him are more than willing to provide Astro-Glide to this machine since YOU brought the subject up. |

The census worker mistook my wife, Laurie, for someone named Lorreen, who lives forty miles away. No wonder the Census costs so much. A neighbor works for the Census and is a really nice, mellow guy. He says the Census software is broken and he has to enter data onto paper whenever he goes into the field. Can you say "double work"? I blame the Blob for this inefficiency. This is an argument for outsourcing some government functions so that profit driven companies can succeed at a lower cost. |
