Jumping off a 2009 1125R Erik Buell onto a 1983 FXDG Willie G. Special edition wide glide. I really wished the Buell/Harley partnership would have lasted they really would have made a great team in time! I am just hoping one day I can pass off both of these bikes to someone that will respect what they were both built for and what it takes maintain these 2 Bad Ass Motorcycles. I disagree with Wondale (wandell) and im guessing willie g. lost touch with his business of knowing the motorcycle world. Oh Well I got the chance to ride 2 peoples dreams they made in their prim! Love em or hate em I love both of them (bikes of course)! 1983 Willie G. Special Designed by willies mind himself Shovelhead Twin Belt Drive, Belt driven and closed primary belt drive. Solid rear disk rim Electric and Kick Start 1125R Need I Say more No pun intended California. Hope I dont get kicked off this forum for an American Flag which reminds me theres a for free sign on a toilet out in the country near Bloomington, IN. If you want Dir. just PM me. Dangit I wish I would have gotten ya'll some picture! |

Wow. I own an 05 CityX and a 77 Shovel. Just had a new top-end build for the Shovel, with less than 300 miles break-in. The Buell will require a motor swap, but I'm planning on riding it to Homecoming. And I'm planning to ride it into the ground, me/it/whatever comes first. Feels weird to be obsolete. But OK. |

Very different bikes! Why give up the 1125 for the Shovel? Please elaborate. |

On the willie G special I pulled off the outer and inner primary covers to have new oil seals pressed out and in! Replaced the linkage, front and read head gaskets (its so easy to adjust the valves using the hydraulic push rods), compensator pulley, rebuild carb. 1125R Erik Buell I have had to take it in for a new sub harness and a flash update And I'm planning to ride it into the ground, me/it/whatever comes first. lol I know the feeling it seems I made an error in speed around a real sharp corner found myself out of pavement and turning on dirt while seeing a rail of trees through my peripheral boy 1 in 10 chance I could find the right spot to get back on the pavement with out washing out the front tire. Good thing I have dirtbike skills or I would have ate some wood! Respect is the first word I tell people about the speed and power of the 1125R. I can daydream at night about riding my 1125R and daydream while riding my FXDG. |

Why give up the 1125 for the Shovel? It was getting dark and I wanted 1 beer and some food after my long ride on the 1125R. I vowed to myself that I'll never have any substance in my system while on the 1125R. } |

my 83fxrt has the enclosed drive chain on it. it hasn't run in quite a few years and one day when i'm all caught up on bills, i'll send it off to get totally restored back to stock in honor of erik buells contribution to this bike. |

I think the original valves you have to use a lead additive kinda like mixing a 2 stroke and it can be a mess. Don't give up on restoring your FXRT oldie but goodie! |

H1000 Does that take place of the reason you have to use led additive to the gas? |
