Ok, I was thinking of getting a steering damper after I got my back pay for my BAH. Now that I have it though I think I've changed my mind and am thinking about a back/spine protector instead. The BX on base has started carrying ICON gear as of late and they have some back/spine protectors there. I thought that I might ask what all your opinions are on them and maybe what recommendations could be made. |

Icon field armor isn't rated. Go for Knox, Aplinestars, Teknic, Forcefield, Bohn... The kinda that are seperate from your leathers are best, with arm/waist straps. |

I'm with BOO. I don't know anything about the ICON gear. I have an Alpinstars bionic or whatever back protecter, and I opted to spend the extra couple bucks for one that attaches to ME and not to my leathers. |

I've used ICON leg armor when wearing jeans (cheap, better than nothing), but wouldn't recommend them to anyone. Their back protectors don't look much better. Coincidentally, I ordered some pieces from Forcefield earlier this week for the wife and I, and UPS says it's due here Monday the 10th. Will gladly post our impressions after a ride or two. http://www.johnsonleather.com/forcefield_back_prot ector_PRO_SUB_4.htm Scrolling down that page, link to a review at "Steady On The Humble" is worth looking at. |

I love my ICON leg armor! I can't really compare them to anything "professional moto gear" but I have experienced it's protection 1st hand. It protects very well and is very comfortable, can wear all day at the office or construction site. I think the problem is they only have small and large,...no medium. Mine fit perfect. |

Glad they work for you. My biggest issue with ICON leg armor is the fit. A fabric tube might secure them in place better than the straps. That said, though, I've been wearing them since 2007 whenever I opt for jeans instead of riding pants. |

I have the Alpinestars one It snaps into my RC-1 suit or I can take it out and wear it under my mesh jacket. It is great. Perfect fit and it stays put. |

I don't see much sense in getting a spine protector, get something that will protect you whole back. I use a Knox Aegis. Awesome protection, and comfortable enough you forget you have it on. Worth every penny. http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/Detail.bok?no =4157 Watch the video at the bottom. |

I was thinking about having a full back protector. I've already got a mild back injury for years ago in a wreck. Doesn't stop me from doing anything, but I would rather not make it worse. Seems the most popular is the Knox from what I can find. |
