I was watching E60 today on ESPN. I watch the bike races from time to time and keep up with Erik Buell Racing but never knew Jordan had a race team. They said he has been doing so for 7 years. He runs Suzuki with no help from the factory. He's set a $5 million budget with a million of that coming out of pocket and states he receives no profit. Found it pretty interesting. |

There is a Joe rocket line of gear for it too. The buell race gloves share a few common parts with the Jordan gauntlet golve. So long as he doesn't do baseball again. I had no idea that he wasn't backed better than that. Kinda cool |

I saw them at Road America the first year the XBRR raced there. I took some pics, but I can't find them now, that was at least 2 computers ago, and I wasn't into archiving then. |

When I first saw the MJ logo on the back of a leather, I thought "why does that guy have a Mercedes logo on his jacket?" |

Jordan has done a lot track testing at Blackhawk farms in IL. Same place the homecoming track days have been. |

I thought it was interesting how he mentioned that, prior to last year, he couldn't be competitive because he couldn't get the same parts as the factory Suzuki team. Last year, after the rule changes, his team got its first win. |

"why does that guy have a Mercedes logo on his jacket? I would bet that is the Air Jordan logo used in his line of sports wear. I must watch to much sports on tv with Nike adds. |

That's what glitch was saying. He didn't recognize the logo at first, but he did later, hence why he said "When I first saw the MJ logo on the back of a leather..." Anyway, I thin that's cool. He should change gears to Erik Buell Racing! |

Jordan has done a lot track testing at Blackhawk farms in IL. Same place the homecoming track days have been. That is because the teams are run by Gemini Technologies out of East Troy. Just a few miles from Erik Buell Racing. http://www.gemini-racing.com/Home.html} |

www.onthethrottle.com has been doing a cool series with their General Manager James Casmay, where they have been going over some of the logistics of a race weekend for a major AMA team. |

Actually, the 'suk factory did not tell him he couldn't get the parts....they told he he couldn't AFFORD the parts...at least thats what I was told by a reliable and unnamed source. |

they told he he couldn't AFFORD the parts This was on Superbikeplanet.com a while ago I think. He asked them how much they gave him the above answer. They never gave a price essentially saying "not for sale" |

Jordan stated that he contacted the factory and Suzuki would provide him with "some" parts. They ended up giving him nothing. That first win was during the filming of the E60 special. He stayed in the suite box for fear of over shadowing his team by being track side. I thought that was cool. During the piece ESPN did, they interviewed a couple guys that now ride with Jordan. They said Jordan pulled up to them one night with a helmet, t-shirt, sweat pants, sneakers and fingerless gloves. Even being Jordan, they said they chewed him a new one! The next day Jordan bought the proper gear. |

Pretty cool show. I think the factory just didnt want any heat for giving the "celebrity, new guy on the block" any special treatment. Maybe now that he has stuck around they are more willing to help!?!? |

I read quite some time ago MJ didnt put any personal money into the team. However, the team could use MJs name to drum up sponsorship dollars. This could have changed in the meantime i suppose. Seems to me like he's conspicuously absent at the AMA events for having a chunk of change invested... |
