Looking for input and suggestions for some wireless options on security cameras and web cams. Something motion sensor triggered as well. Initial desire would be a camera on the front door to see who comes and goes after hours or when away from the house. Then one or two in the garage. Then something to set up in the dog room to check remotely to see if the dogs are barking. An analogous example would be to think of random doorbell ringers annoying the dogs then calling the cops about barking dogs. Not the case but close enough of a parameter to fit the need. A game camera is too big and has too long of a lag, such as a screen door opening triggering the camera them missing whatever happens next. I'd also like to be able to check the garage camera remotely to verify if the garage door is shut or if it magically had the opener triggered. Budget is a primary consideration, then portability if we have to move. Thanks for any links or input. RadioShack was only marginally helpfull and I don't know of any local spy shops that are budget oriented |

http://www.wilife.com/ this is the system I run at home.Up to 6 cameras, networked via power outlets. The indoor cams can be stuck to the inside of the window looking out,( most people dont notice them, and the ones that have thought it was a weather monitor) good images. The system will run good without the subscription, but with the platinum upgrade you can do almost anything from anywhere (with internet access). I have been using it for almost a year and i am really pleased with it. Very user-friendly, only bad thing is you have to have a computer on all the time, I run it off a "hidden" laptop, incase of a power outage no re-boot is needed. Well worth the money. thats my $.02 |

Swann is the way I am going. But I am going wired. The PC cards handle four cams each and can be banked x four for 16 cams. Auto switching day/night with good distance at night. The software does all the heavy lifting. so many different parameters can be set for each individual cam. the software also does the motion sensing. You get to select the zones in the frame it actually watches for changes. If you have it networked into your home, it will email you when the motion sensor is tripped. If you can install the client software on another system, you can even remote view the whole thing. |
