My garage/tools are dry and idle. I can come pick it up take it to my place and do whatever I can to get it up and running. I might have to rely on some advice from badwebbers. |

The insurance company still has not picked up the bike yet, so if someone wants the project of getting it running, I'm all for it. I just don't want to end up making a payment on a bike that is going to have "issues" down the road. Everything on the bike has been wet and it's been sitting under a tree caked in mud and now bird poop for a week. I pulled the seat off to salvage it (Buell touring seat) and underneath the seat is nasty. Corrosion has run amuck. I can only imagine what the inside of the engine looks like. Basically, the bike would have to be completely dissembled to the frame, cleaned, lubricated, and reassembled. I think you have to rotate the engine just to get to the front plug. The instrument cluster is totally fubared. I'd be ever so grateful if someone could get it back in tip top shape again, but I'm guessing it's going to take a LOT of time to get that done. It's not just a matter of getting it running, it's a matter of getting it to the point where it's as good as new. I'm not poo-pooing the idea of it running again, I'm just saying it's a bigger job than you might think. |

I've saved snowmobiles and ATV's that were sunk many times. We do snowmobile water skipping up here so the sleds go down. I hope someone in your area can get it drained and lubed as soon as possible. The muffler will have to be drained, cleaned and lubed. The engine and trans can be flushed and lubed and it will live. Best Wishes to you and your family. |

Chad, Bike insurance less deductible covers the CR? That would at least be one positive amongst your very challenging ordeal. Your git'er'done attitude sure is admirable. If you can use any help rebuilding, don't hesitate to speak up here. |

Chad, if it was me, I'd start taking it apart and cleaning it all up. Drain the engine, gas tank, all fluids and get started on the fixing the bike. Don't wait on the insurance company because they are TOTALLY worthless when it comes to taking care of your motorcycle! I wish you luck with it because it's too nice of a motorcycle to just let go to waste. |

Don, Chad stated above that all his spare time is now rightly and admirably focused on restoring/rebuilding his family's home. |

Chad, Barker has offered to massage your CR back to life (I think you owe him a beer or two... ) If it's "just" a question of money now, Denise and I are still willing to help, as are others. A "Buell-a-thon" isn't going to happen, but that won't keep me from pinging Ulywife with a little a$$i$tance. Please keep us posted as to the direction you choose to proceed with your bike, and know that the good folks of BWB will help. Good luck to you and your family (and everyone else affected by the flood) - I cannot imagine what you're going through. FB&D |

I've received a few donations already. Whether these funds help with the motorcycle or house it's still going for a good cause and a good Badwebber. The fact that your home owners insurance doesn't cover for flood damage leaves homeowners paying for the repairs out of pocket. |

Wow folks...my heart is swelled from the kindness I've seen from friends and family. It's been amazing. The emails, calls, Facebook posts, and posts on forums from people offering help and well wishes has been so touching. As much as it pains me to see the CR gone (insurance company picked it up), I feel so blessed to have so many great friends. A week after the flood, my spirits are high. I realize that I've not been a victim of a disaster, but a recipient of wonderful kindness. It's a shame it took a flood to make me realize how blessed I am. Went to a meeting with tonight for the flood victims tonight. I should be able to get a low interest disaster loan to repair the relative minor damage I sustained. My neighbors have it far worse than me. Before I can get back on two wheels (besides my scooter) I have to get my family's needs squared away. As soon as I get back to normal and can get an accounting of what the financial hurt is, I'll be motorcycle shopping. I appreciate all the advice on how to repair the bike, but honestly, I am relieved to not have the payment right now. |

Barker, you've got a perfectly good Ulysses that needs a good thrashing. I'd be glad to take care of it for you. |
