but this trip I'm riding my Futura from Texas back to WV, kinda the reverse of Vasily's trip ....(the Uly is still doing daily rider duties here)  hope to bump into a Bueller or two (Vern  )....so do yall care if I post about a coming up roadtrip? | ||

when you get to memphis, tn. dump i-40, and get on hwy. 70. now that's a great road. it's the old 2 lane... you know, before that interstate crap. it parallels i-40, so you won't go off course by taking it. from nashville to knoxville, it really gets nice. great twistie road, and nice scenery, as you start gaining altitude. US Hwy 70 east (highly recommended here)  looks like a great trip. enjoy yourself. | ||

Any time Ken! Better let me in on when though, I have some Buell events coming up! What is the deal with "riding back"? You picking one up down there? I totally agree on riding the rt 70 instead of I40 if time permits and it is day light. | ||

Thanks for the route tip! ran into Cragfont a couple of years ago when tooling off the big road.... neat construction methods...roof built like an inverted ship hull  Vern looks like the weekend of 5/1....I'll hopefully be coming past your way.... http://www.cragfont.com/history.html oh the trip, just the Futura you saw ... had it shipped in winter thinking I'd get to ride out to Big Bend for spring bloom but WORK kinda had its own plans. just got into (dodgin rainclouds) Nashville, sorry haven't been posting...been playing stormchaser... Sunday: Austin to Hot Springs, Ar being the human kite.  Anyway, while in Austin..here's a good place for some chow (beware the crowd around midnight)  here's pic of machine Vern....   as you can tell from the map, even the secondary roads are pretty STRAIGHT...  Well, that was a couple of days old... I'm tarred.... a little over 1500 miles so far, used a little oil, think I might just chill the next day .... | ||

oops, Lemonchili... the bike is old to me, I had sent it to Texas during one of those snowstorms with the plan to do some riding about a month ago (the guys at AF1 were willing to store it for free)...well, work got busy and now I'm snagging the trip and turns out I'm riding her home. Was originally going to do the Mississippi River Road but was advised to try out Arkansas instead....so far that turned out to be a lucky choice given the weather... it's all largely unplanned | ||

Ken, sent you a PM a couple days ago, not sure if you got it. I'd like to hook up with you on your way north if you wouldn't mind some old, slow company and if'n you're gonna be near the 'hood. I'm right on the Parkway, about 20 minutes north of the VA/NC border. Asheville proper is awful busy for my tastes. The last time me 'n D spent the night down that way we stayed in a century-old schoolhouse converted to stately old hotel with creaky floors and four-poster bed dealio in Black Mountain. Pretty quaint, pretty quiet, pretty pretty. So this is running a couple of days slow.... on Sunday, I got to play amateur stormchaser and raced after wacky clouds all the way to Arkansas...  woke up Monday morning all revitalized but famished, went in search of chow....saw the telltale sign of a fine eatin' establishment...  went out on a little loop, them roads are nice....have to get used to tanned colored asphalt...  had to check out the fuss over this water...  stopped by McClard's hoping for some Q but they are closed on Monday...' saw this Mily Uly on the way out...  neat eh? met a couple of bovine... saw some old cars  and saw this...  and then charged out to Memphis.... | ||

I see that Wayne Henderson was formally on the bill today, but he and Doc Watson are good friends and I bet Wayne is around all weekend. Ken, left you a couple of voice mails last night and this morning. Pea-soup fog on the Parkway this morning, at least in this neck of the woods, near-zero vis and dripping wet. SERIOUS nastiness going on to the west of the Appalachians, some of which is now beginning to impact Morgantown. It's prolly decent going down on the Piedmont this morning.
