I guess it gets kind of fuzzy. Copyright law generally is. At the same time though, I was under the impression parodies fell under fair use. I'm no lawyer though... | ||

The problem is, Youtube is using a program that "watches" videos and looks for known copyrighted content including movies, music and so on. That is how it can pop up with advertisements like "Buy this movie on Amazon". It can also be used to provide a blanket block by the copyright owner if they don't want anyone using their work. You can see often in home made motorcycle videos using music from large record labels, the audio ends up getting muted. The Nostalgia Critic ended up making his own site after his video movie reviews were getting constantly taken down due to the same reason. Yes, it is protected under fair use. | ||

and this is why some of the official 80s videos are disapearring.... How are we going to pass on the ideals of Hair Nation if you wont play them on Mtv and we cant nab them off the internet? Gawd-dawmn. If you dont like them being viewed for free; then just maybe you should bring back the business model that had them in rotation before. F*ck Real World, Jersey Shore, The OC, Made, Pimp my Ride, I want my Mtv (back) I would have put that rant infront of Hitler... but the meme is gone  | ||
