Here is what he said on motorcycles elsewhere on the site: Motorcycle engine oil is often unique, since the transmissions and/or other assemblies may share the crankcase oil. Though we often suggest that oil type doesn't matter in gas or diesel engines, bike engine oils often possess unique additive groups due to their multi-purpose functions. We scrutinize the additives in motorcycle oil as much as we do the wear levels. |

I've used the same oil in my 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee since it was new. Walmart Super Tech 20w-50. It has less than 3000 miles to go before it hits a quarter of a million miles with never a rebuild. The weight depending on your climate and regular changes is what is important. I have a poster up in my office with a 56 Cadillac that says "Proper Maintenance Extends Life" True in machines and people. |
