So i've looked in past threads for dirt on back wheel
What's the trick to getting that crap off the center of the back rim other than not washing it lol
My rims are blue and it looks like a bluish grey

I use dish soap, and a miniature toilet brush, used for dishes (that sounds funny). If you need a stronger detergent, Simple Green works great. While using either soap, I use a lot of it. The brush is good about not smackin yer knuckles while getting at that hub area. Hope that helps.

Looks like WD-40, Honda Bright, and S-100 are pretty popular

simple green seems to stain my tire. I avoid it now. Turns it a weird yellowish color

No issues with my tire. : )

Some simple green (and a bit of goo gone for those wheel weight leave behinds) and a kitchen sink is all you need!

OFF! bug spray, kinda pricey for the use. Clean them while cleaning your bike, then come back and use it to get the "hard" stuff. It works to clean lots of stuff.

Careful with the OFF! it eats into many kinds of plastic.

Cold bike - not even in the sun - and a 50/50 mix of simple green and water works for me. Spray on, let sit for a minute, hit with a hose to soak, wipe, rinse, dry. Sometimes on my CR wheels I get a little "chalky" look - quick detailer takes care of that instantly.

If the brake dust is stained on you may have to use polishing compound.

You guys are going to think I'm crazy but the best thing I've found for cleaning the crap off of the rims is oven cleaner. I spray it on a rag and then wipe the wheels. I dont spray it directly on the wheels and I dont let it sit on there but it does work!

Run it through the puddles. For the big chunky stuff, turn around and repeat.

What else were you thinking I was going to recommend ? ; )

wesley's bleach white. spray it on, most of the grime will run right off. for the tough spots a quick run over it with a wheel brush and rinse very well. 5 minutes and my rims are clean.

i do make sure to do it quickly and rinse/drown the wheels very well. but i havent tried it on my black wheels. just been using it on my silver and diamond blue wheels for awhile now.

Oven cleaner is LYE (NaOH)
If it comes in contact with the Aluminum though a scratch in the paint, it will react fast, releasing Hydrogen bubbles.

Be careful folks!

Try it on some aluminum foil if you don't believe me.

Yeah oven cleaner or bleache white have to be throughly rinsed/ drowned otherwise you stand a real chance of messing up the powder coat. Even "Mean Green" can stain the powder coat.

S-100, Bike-Brite, Honda spray polish even WD-40 work very well w/o the chance of f-cking up the finish.

Yeah to keep PM's shiny, so you could see yourself in them, I would spend 2 hours per week on my PM's with boat loads of elbow grease and patience.

BTW DO NOT use S-100 on any polished Aluminum it will leave white streaks/ ghosting that is a REAL pita to remove.

S100 only streaks if you don't thoroughly get it rinsed off with water as it states on the label.
