Am I the only one that finds the exhaust in the top picture... ridiculous? The Storz version is much nicer IMHO. ~SM |

Skins, it is an all original 1984 XR 1000 with race kit (cams, pistons, exhaust) and late model seat. Yes I still have it. The exhaust in the picture is a Supertrapp. I also have the factory race megaphone system, and the stock system, as well as the original seat. I will be riding it for the Slimey Crud, weather permitting. |

I think that is an awsome bike, but the reality of it is the majority of the people buying sportbikes today have never heard of a cafe racer. Alot I have talked to know nothing of anyother bike that is not made by the big four. If its older than 5 years they think it is ancient. They dont follow racing only stunting. They have not heard of Kenny Roberts, Bud Ekins, or even Ben Spies or Valentino Rossi for that matter. They can only think of what it would be like to pull in to the local Hooters on a new gsxr 1000 or r1. Same goes for most of the buyers of HD's. The younger crowd wants the most power and the older wants the most chrome. They ride to be seen and look cool, there for they probably will not ride long, hence the amount of Harleys in the Trader and all the crashes I hear about because of stupidity. The bottom line is that the people who dont understand why I ride a Buell dont because they dont share the passion of feeling the suspension compress in a curve or the how time stops when you nail a curve with your knee on the ground and the only thing you are thinking about is how much fun your having. The personal satisfaction is why we ride, and we dont care what anyone else thinks. |
