Hello My last post here was many days ago and I almost stop reading this board but I still ride on my Buell. The motor-season has been opened in Moscow in the first day of this weak. I just want to say "thank you" because guys from here recommended my the internet shop where I can bought the parts for my bike (I was in a little road accident) But now I want to ask you again. And my question will be about good places. Can you recommend me any places of interest on our way? Me and two my friends going to visit USA in 10 April. We will fly to Houston and going to rent bikes there. Our approximate way will be the following: But it can be a bit changed or will absolutely other if anything happens. Only two place here is exact: 1. The cities Houston is start point and Seattle is end point 2. We want to visit both coasts and LA! I found my old post where I asked you about rental company. Here it is: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/406 2/497897.html?1255895555. My idea to visit USA at that time was in fog... But now We have a tickets, visa, and great wish to cross USA and in 3 days the wish will start to be realized. It would be good if we can meet somebody just for free talking about riding, motorcycles or something else. ps. Also we a going to get "Iron butt" status but have not decided where we will start riding for this and where we have to finished! We have to select 1000 miles part of our way for doing it. Hi Vasiliy, Good to see you are healthy. I would alter your route in that you go through Austin, Tx instead of, or add to it. It is a nice looking city and a good place to start your iron butt status. Once you head out of Austin and head west, there isn't much to see other than desert until you hit Los Angeles. However again, I would alter this and go to San Diego first, then ride up north from there. If you head to San Diego let me know! What kind of bikes will you be renting? |

First off, awesome choice! Not much cooler than hitting a loop around America on a bike. Even better on a Buell!! Local guy did it and made a website. He did 22 states in 22 days by himself. He's good dude btw as well. Heres detailed log with plenty of cool places to visit! http://ninjaexplorer.dynamitedave.com/ |

You should try to hit highway 336 and 337 in Texas since you're heading West from Houston. They're both a little West of Austin. It looks like your path will take you North of them. (I think your route keeps you on Interstate 10.) They're the best roads in the state for motorcycles. You might consider highway 290 to Austin, then South through the hill country back to the Interstate. I-10 between Houston and San Antonio is a pretty boring stretch of superslab. Look for a town called Leakey Texas. It's smack dab in the middle of the best roads, and it's where most of the folks in Houston go to ride. http://www.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&ge %20ocode=&q=leakey+texas&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=Leakey, +Re%20al,+Texas&ll=29.731589,-99.756889&spn=0.1210 4,0.37%206282&z=12 |

Echoing what others have said, the Pacific coast is great. Take US 101 up from San Franisco through the Redwoods, and around the Olympic Peninsula in Washington State. If you haven't seen a thousand year old tree before, it's worth a look. And in general, try to stay off the interstate highways. They're long, straight and boring. Sometimes you can't avoid them. Are you bringing along a GPS? |

Blackm2 Yeah, exactly here in desert we are going to get Iron butt status. I suppose we can visit Austin. I will discuss it with my friends tomorrow. By now we are going to rent HD Sportsters. They are not so comfotoble as we want but the price of them is small. |

You will be passing through Phoenix, AZ, which is where I'm at. I can offer up a free meal, and some Arizona routes if your interested. Maybe even ride with you part way, depending on my work schedule. You will be seeing some great country once you get past Las Vegas. A stop at Zion National Park is a must, and some great country up in Idaho also. Truly a great adventure you have coming up, PM me if you need anything while your in Arizona... Bart |

If you are coming to all the way to the US to ride don't miss the Pacific Coast Highway. Start at Morro Bay and stay on rt1 until you get to Leggit CA. Let me know when you are in Los Angeles I might be able to show you some nice canyon rides while you are here. |

Keep us posted! Sounds fantastic! Kind of like the Dave Barr "Riding the Ice" trip in reverse. Except you will be warm. And you have legs. At least when you start... after that long a ride on a Sportster, you might end missing a few important bits. ;0 |

Congratulations Vasili! To be able to go half way around the World to ride across the United States has got to be an awesome adventure for you and your buddy. I am too far East to be of any help. Perhaps you will like it so well that in a few years you can come back to do the East coast riding. Wishing you the best on your ride! |

In Las Vegas do NOT miss Red Rock Canyon or the Valley of Fire! The latter is where Buell filmed a LOT of their ads for the Firebolt when it was first introduced. |

How many total days will you be on the road between Texas and Washington? The more time, the more great places you can visit. Stay OFF the interstates if your schedule permits. |

Man, what an exciting opportunity you guys have! The adventure and stories you'll be bale to come back and share with your friends and family. Surely you plan on bringing cameras and the sort... I'm excited for you! I've always wanted to go do something like this. Texas, my home state is a very big state and I totally agree with the route choices made and making a trip through Austin. Keep us informed! |

I've hit snow on part of that route - Northern Utah and Southern Idaho - in MAY. Be prepared for some cold weather and maybe snow in April in that part of the country. Have FUN and Stay alert to our drivers - they all have other things to do than pay attention to the road and others on it. Al |

We a going to fly back Moscow in 1 May Rotzaruck, yeah of course I will take the BRAN as paper copy. Leftcoastal We hope that the weather will be fine on the Northern states by end of April. In Moscow now there is no snow at all. It is strange... because in previous years the snow thawed fully only by first days of May. Cityxslicker, Ok. We will fly to Houston in 10 April. Can you send me PM with your cell number? |

Zions National Park is a great place to stop on the way north from Vegas. It's not too far off the beaten path either. Take the little bus ride and hike the short path. You can ride through then turn around and ride back through or take Hwy 89 north from there, if you go that way you'll see several ranches just the other side of Zions with bison out roaming. Let me know if you've got questions about the Utah part of your adventure. There's been a lot of snow in Southern Utah this year. So the foot trail may be closed due to high water if it melts off fast. Listen to the rangers if they advise on flash flooding. It may be cold passing from Cedar City all the way to Nephi or further north. Be prepared, it snowed two days ago, six or more inches in different parts of the Salt Lake Valley, it's melted from the valley floor but local canyons were closed for avalanche control Wednesday morning. If it's cold in Salt Lake it will be the same in Cedar, and there will be colder points along the way due to elevation. I've got tools in the garage and know some of the guys at the local dealership if you need to stop in for maintenance on your rentals. I'm also on the BRAN so feel free to contact me if you have any need while in Utah and my brother is in Boise, Idaho so I can find you help up there should you have a need. |
