Driver in fatal Phoenix motorcycle crash booked on 4 manslaughter counts by Melanie Kiser - Apr. 6, 2010 05:30 PM The Arizona Republic . The driver of a dump truck that plowed into a group of motorcyclists in north Phoenix last month, leaving four dead, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter Tuesday, authorities said. Michael Jakscht, 46, was arrested on suspicion of four counts of manslaughter, aggravated assault and endangerment in connection with the March 25 collision. The sanitation truck Jakscht was driving slammed into the group, which was stopped at a traffic light on Carefree Highway, according to the Phoenix Police Department Surveillance officers arrested Jakscht at 27th Drive and the Carefree Highway on Tuesday after getting word from the crime lab that initial testing indicated methamphetamine was in his system at the time. Jakschts was to be booked into Maricopa County jail Tuesday evening. Whether it's drugs (yes that includes pot) or alcohol there is a reason they call it DUI. G |

Nice they got the bastard on some serious stuff! I was hoping they nailed this fukr. I had a lady come in to my shop and she was bitching about getting a ticket for hitting a motorcyclist while trying to avoid a BBQ in the middle of the highway, She swerved into him at 70 mph and was cited for not hitting the BBQ. The police said by law she should have hit the BBQ! She was laughing and joking about it and i was seething on the inside. I wanted to hop the counter choke her out. I never forgot the @#$%&* |

I'm not defending this guy, but you can have drugs in your system and not be intoxicated. If you smoke a joint today, you will test positive for marijuana 30 days later. Just sayin |

That's true Ulynut, but if having a positive test result for whatever he did (and whenever he did it) will get this guy charged with something, instead of walking away scott free, I don't care if he was intoxicated or not. |

Is Maracopa Co. jail the one where the sherrif (I think his name is something like Aparo)makes them wear pink, live in tents outside and because of court decisions that mandate television he allows them to watch only the Disney channel and weather channel, the later so that they wil see how miserable the heat will be when they are working outside the next day and the food is only adequate for subsitance. My kind of warden. (Message edited by pso on April 07, 2010) |

if he was on pot, he wouldn't car enough to walk back to the office to get the keys he left on the desk and would spend the next few hrs just sitting there. |

Methamphetamine is not pot! Can you say tweeker? Isn't meth more like a 3 day residual drug, cocain is. Crackhead, That would be some potent weed. Preybird1, I had a lady run me off the road when I was 16 on a motorcycle. I got back on the road and followed her to the next town. I went into the post office where she went in and thanked her in front of everyone for running me off the road with her car. I turned around and left. Yep, I wanted to throttle her. |

I'm not defending this guy, but you can have drugs in your system and not be intoxicated. If you smoke a joint today, you will test positive for marijuana 30 days later. That isn't necessarily true. But, different drugs stay in your system for different amounts of time... It depends on if they are fat soluble (sp?) or not. THC is fat soluble, and CAN stay in your system for an extended time. I don't think methamphetamine is... I think it comes out pretty quickly.} |

Seems he was intoxicated at the time, so latency isn't a question At the scene, Jakscht had a high pulse rate and dilated pupils. He couldn't remain balanced and performed poorly on the walk and turn test. http://www.azcentral.com/community/northvalley/art icles/2010/04/07/20100407bond-set-truck-driver-mot orcycle-crash-phoenix-abrk.html |
