What tech skills? All I see is a simple logo and a bunch of forged information. ~SM |

Top marks!! I was always told, "If you're going to do something, do it properly" Whoever did it, good for him, he's pulled off a cracker. Slick enough to look plausible, but enough indicators in there to show it for what it really is if you care to look. Nice one. |

I'd say take it, and do what you will. I doubt very seriously it's registered. |

True enough, square-jawed one . . . . . I'll have to mock it up and see how it looks . . . . if nothing else, it'll max the irony-meter! |

Well, Jensen Beeler over at Asphalt and Rubber who wrote this apparently has more free time than we do. After spending hours answering phone questions and e-mail questions about his joke, I think we are going to send him a substantial consulting bill. |

Bomber, isn't that the name of the new Indian? http://www.indianmotorcycle.com/TheMotorcycles1/ChiefBomber/ChiefBomberFeatures/tabid/493/Default.aspx Logo on front fender. Indian is another Motorcycle co. that went out of business, and was resurrected.

I always got the impression that A&R is bankrolled by someone's parent. "Don't worry, mom, some day I'll get advertisers to actually pay me to do motorcycle themed creative writing and post third hand information on the internet - it's the Next Big Thing!" |

Well then someones parents are proud. This hoax was very clever. Well thought out story, clever little hints all over, really plays on a Buell enthusiasts emotions so much you want to believe it. Got me. Even got himself some publicity. Sucks for Erik and crew because of the hassle with the phones and such. But a well thought out prank indeed. That little bastard. |

While it's too bad that EBR had to waste time dealing with it, and I feel bad for people who got their hopes up, it's pretty cool that a <10 employee company can generate so much interest. I think the success of the thing had a lot more to do with the fact that the world CAN'T WAIT to see what's next for Erik Buell than anything Asphalt & Rubber did. |

Ha! It even made it to Autoblog. http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/02/the-most-elabor ate-april-fools-joke-ever-buell-and-bombardier/#co ntinued EBR seems to generate more publicity doing nothing than Harley could ever generate throwing millions at Buell. Good to know that when there actually is a story to publish, it's likely to spread like wildfire. |

I don't think that HD was willing to make a real commitment to advertising Buell. Yea advertising money was spent but I think it was more a show of effort than a genuine attempt to grow the brand. At minimum a crippled effort on behalf of Buell. |

Well then someones parents are proud. This hoax was very clever. The technical flaws in it were either clever "You HAVE to know this is a joke by now" - or - his grasp of this business is really that tenuous. His other "Business Model" writings lead me to one conclusion - it isn't the flattering one. But I suppose the best qualifier for becoming a moto-blogger is knowing but just a tiny bit more than one's audience. (Message edited by rohorn on April 02, 2010) |

Now that it's over, and everyone seems to be having a good laugh, I'll say it again. I hate April Fool's. Now that it's all over I hope Erik has some sugar for all those lemons. Maybe just maybe (even though a pain in the ass) good will come of this. Any publicity is good publicity, right? As long as this keeps Erik in the news, maybe those that can help Erik will either continue, or get on board. Maybe I helped Erik in some small way, if I did, well then maybe April Fool's ain't so bad. Maybe (Message edited by glitch on April 03, 2010) |
