stupid liberals Motorcycles get better gas mileage than cars, have a smaller foot print, and utilize the carpool lane. And in NY I am sure they are seasonal, especially with all the snow that global warming brings every year. Silly liberal, step away from the pipe |

sure small business owner have to work for a living, make profits, provide a viable tax base... The port authority is politicians, that are retired, academic or worse 'artists' that havent had to do anything with a quartly profit sheet in so long they could recognize it if you served their lunch on it. At least that is the way it is here. Port of Bremerton, Seattle, Jefferson Point, Winslow, Port Orchard, Poulsbo.... All petty beauracrats with a needle neck axe to grind. The only port administration that is about growth, development and resident/business friendly?.... Tribal. |

I like Seattle, a great deal -- I've always enjoyed my visits to the area, and think it's swell. That said, using the greater Seattle Area as a benchmark for all think governmental may not be entirely accurate. I'm just sayin. |

The New York Port Jefferson Business Improvement District (BID) recently distributed a newsletter that asks local businesses to ban motorcycles and the "unsightly presence of motorcyclists" from Main Street. Yeah, it's the BID wanting the ban, not the business owners. This request was directed at the businesses. I'm sure they like all the traffic they can get. ~SM |

I bet someone was having a nice lunch in a open air cafe one day when some douche bag(s) came rolling by with straight pipes.... and dropped a big loud turd on their day... Loud pipes risk rights.... so if ya have a modified exhaust (i do) stay off the cam whilst in the vicinity of the non riding public....or we are gonna see more of this kinda stuff.... just say'n |

Liberal? I dunno about you, but most of the small business people are among the most conservative folks I know. Yes, Liberal. Conservatives are about smaller government and less control over the people. Liberals are about bigger government solutions that have many more controls placed upon it's subjects. |

It took me a while to understand it myself. Once I got my head dislodged from my butt and understood that Liberals had nothing to do with liberties it dawned on me that I really wasn't a liberal. Too many folks really have conservative beliefs, but vote liberal without really understanding what they are doing. Leads to representatives that say such things as "Guam may capsize if we put more people on it". |

I don't know about you, but the businessmen... ALL business men... here on Long Island are staunch Republicans. Liberal Republicans? No... it's more like, as Wolfridgerider pointed out, armies of FAGS riding through town announcing how small their penises are to everyone assembled that caused this to happen. How many times does it need to be said: Either we learn to police ourselves, or someone will step in and do it for us (and we WON'T like their solution)?? Blaming "Liberals" for everything is a cheap cop-out. Same as blaming Facists Conservatives for everything. |

Same as blaming Facists Conservatives for everything. What!?! I understand people getting confused on this matter, and where it's origin is. I take offense being call Fascist. Yes I'm Conservative. Fascists believe in singular collective identity, and the ability to commit violence against the public. That sounds neither Liberal nor Conservative. |

As a Liberal, I feel that every time I "walk" into BadWeb I do so with a target on my back. Want to bash Liberals? Then be aware that there isn't one collective conscience here and there are people with an opposing viewpoint. |

As was pointed out in the article, the business owners are being asked to ban motorcyclists. Like it or not it is a Liberal philosophy to pass legislation to dictate behavior, such as dictating the type and amount of medical coverage that you will soon be forced to purchase under penalty of the law. It's not a cheap cop-out to point out the truth. You are correct that we must do a better job of "policing" ourselves, lest we get policed by others. Just don't get confused on whose political philosophy is really about controlling our lives though. One last thing, an East or West coast Republican is still very likely to be pretty liberal, or they are likely to be known as an also ran. |

Libertarian --> Conservative anarchist. A bit off target, but not all that much. Anarchists are really the extreme end of Conservatism. Limited government taken to the extreme would be virtually no government; AKA Anarchy. Conservatism is about limited government. Do what is necessary and no more. |

Democrats. Care about workers and their rights. More for the middle and poor folks. More for the common folks Republicans. Big Business. Care about profits over people. Think only of big business benefits. Wants to make sure common folks do not make a good wage, and what they do make, goes to them as business high execs. They get the bonus and golden parachutes. They could care less about us. I have seen it and see it in the board rooms all the time. Cut wages, Cut benefits. Give profits to the execs at the top. |

Democrats. Care about workers and their rights. More for the middle and poor folks. More for the common folks They have had 90% of the black vote for decades now. It's amazing how much the blacks have advanced over the decades. Given another 100 years of so of this sort of advancement they may someday move up to be the working poor. |

Heh, pretty funny. Turns out the board of directors of the BID is "comprised of property owners, commercial tenants and Village Liaisons", just like New York State Law (NY General Municipal Code, Article 19-A, Section 980-M) says it must be. So, then... either the "property owners, commercial tenants, etc" of the BID are stupid clueless liberals... Or folks who label as "liberal" anything they think is stupid are shooting without aiming. A cardinal sin, in my book. |

Great way to run yet another thread so far off track it's worthless. Who cares what political affiliation did this, they are still doing it and possibly taking away the rights of citizens. If it's loud mufflers, then hand out tickets. If it is idiots doing stupid and hazardous things, then throw them in jail. Basically enforce the laws that are already on the books! |

If it is idiots doing stupid and hazardous things, then throw them in jail. Basically enforce the laws that are already on the books! That pretty much sums up my point. We usually don't need to expand government to deal with issues like this. Passing more laws is expansion of government. That certainly can not be described as a Conservative ideal. Labeling all business owners as conservative is more of a cop-out than examining if a particular action is a liberal or conservative ideal. |
