No I've not gone all soft, this is for my mate Pascal's wife. She's heavily into making clothes & embroidery & has a Bernina 440 machine, swiss made & apparently very popular in the US. What she's after is a design software package for it, the makers do one, Bernina Designer V6, but it's like over $2000 (yes you read it right). So if any of your wives, girlfriends, mums, or whatever, have any ideas, for equivalent compatible software that's cheap or free, please let me know. I thank you. |

I googled Bernina 440 Software and found a LINK to Tech Republic with a bunch of different embroidery software, USB drivers, etc. The site requires a free registration but it looks like there are a bunch of free trials... one I found appears to be compatible and free for 30 days, costs $144 to buy. Maybe you'll find something useful there. |

I worked for a company called Wilcom out of Australia for about a year. They specialize in embroidery software... pretty sweet automated tools from what little I saw. I'm afraid I dunno the name of the actual software package, but the company name might be a good starting point for a Google search. I was actually in their rug design department, so I worked with different stuff. A few of the staff actually owned the software and ran embroidery businesses on the side, so I can't imagine it was too expensive (Wilcom didn't pay that much!). ~SM |
