Copied from his facebook page: -------------------------- Supreme court takes Case. Al Snyder is now responsible for paying over $16,000 in legal fees for the Westboro Baptist Church. To donate to help Mr. Snyder please click on the website above and click How to Help and Make a Donation Online, we really appreciate it.
GREAT NEWS! Bill O'Reilly has just announced that he will pay the entire amount that AL SNYDER owes to those people!!!!
PLEASE keep in mind that any donations in excess will be used to begin the Matt Snyder Fund! -------------------------- These people protesting our heroes are wacked. I know there are some groups that help protect the families especially during funerals. I would like to join one but... I am afraid I will not be able hold my emotions back and/or get thrown in jail for battery or sued.
But...there must be some civil ways the disrupt these loons to prevent them from disturbing the funerals of these fallen heroes. My niece is a Marine, and she did her time but god forbid if the worst happened to her and our family had to deal with these loons. I feel for the families that have to deal with this.
What also really pisses me off is.. I hear about these flash mobs happening over in South Phila on south street. Mobs of mostly kids terrorizing the public. They really should put their rage to good use. (hint hint)
fat bastard has it on the nose. i don't have to like it but if i want to be able to say what i feel then you have to be allowed the same thing. there is no middle ground that being said i ride with the PGR
These is absolute Bulls**t I have deployed in the middle East both on a ship and on the ground. I've seen firsthand what these men and women sacrifice on a day to day basis. And we didn't ask why we were there we just went. we did what we had to do to get the job done. so why do these scumbags feel the need to desecrate the mans funeral to make a point. cant they protest in front of some federal building. So some poor guy can bury his son in peace. Now don't get me wrong I'm all for freedom of speech but damn theres a time and a place for everything and at some kids funeral is nether the time or the place.
No...you guys are WRONG!! In this situation. NO freaking way. In this situation they are disrupting a peaceful funeral. NOPE. NO WAY. IMO they loose all credibility for protesting and disrupting a funeral for the very people that fight and risk their lives to protect their civil rights to protest. And by doing so, are also insulting their (deceased solders) families. I do not deny they should be able to and have the right to protest the military because a different outcome MAY come of it. But this serves no purpose other than to insult, disrupt and disrespect the family and friends of a fallen human being. (Hero)
There must ALLWAYS be respect for the dead. A L L W A Y S.
If they want to protest the war or anything to do with that,...go protest the MILITARY BASES. Go to Washington. Protest like everyone else does....go to the source.
NOPE. NO WAY. They lost A L L Credibility. Go stand next to them, get inches away, and the first one that hurts your eardrum take it as an assault and defend yourself. Or if that won't work... pay someone (good money) to rub themselves in fresh stinky dog feces and go bump into all of them. (by accident of course)
BTW, does this church get the same tax benefits as other normal churches?
Hey, Westboro Baptist Church : F**k You, You F**king F**k!
Unbelievable! And of all things to come to light, the defendants in this suit are the owners of the godhatesfags and other infamous, hate mongering websites.
RIP Matthew Snyder, and thank you for your service.
The way you fix this is to walk in and protest during the Westboro church services on Sunday.
I think a right nice "God Hates Westboro" sign would do nicely.
BTW, this ISN'T a church. These are hateful scumbags using the church to justify their luncacy. They are going to be really disappointed when the end comes. I think Satan himself will bend them over in hell.
Is hate speech protected? I honestly don't understand the law here, hate speech is not a crime? For example, isn't it illegal to say that you want to kill POTUS and/or other politicos? How does the new hate crimes law work?
Stopping these individuals from protesting Armed Forces Funerals and Banning it, Fine them or even giving a jail term will NOT lead to the USA turning into China or North Korea. I agree that they have "A" right to protest, but not like the way they are. Protesting at a solders funeral should be banned. Completely.
Kind of reminds me of a great quote I learned during basic training.
"It is the soldier, not the poet, who gives us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the reporter, who gives us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who gives us freedom to protest. It is the soldier who serves beneath the flag, who salutes the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who gives the demonstrator the right to burn the flag." -- Stephen Ambrose
I ride with guys that keep them out of funerals, they are called the patriot guard riders and they are an amazing group of individuals. many but not all have served in the armed forces and only come by invitation. they do send offs and welcome homes in addition to funerals for any service member of any war.
I did a fundraiser with them last summer for the gold and blue star families in Michigan and cannot even describe how fantastic giving and patriotic these people are. it was a big family event and I was not the typical rider there ( I was younger than most as well as riding a sport bike) but they were so friendly and acted like I had always been there with them even though it was only the second or third time I had been at an event with them.
they are very peaceful and many show their emotions but wear sunglasses to hide tears
as for the picketing I have mixed emotions on this, they are Picketing the funeral of a soldier that put his life on the line to preserve that freedom for them that lets them do it. a law stopping them from picketing would be desecrating the soldiers memory more than the picketing could ever do itself.
a peaceful barrier is a valid solution, they have every constitutional right to be there but no moral right, so people stand in the way and they have every constitutional right to stand in their path without causing harm.
Yea, I know. But new laws are written everyday. Sorry,.. you guys probably beat this topic to death already. I just saw the man on news who had to pay these loons. Had to say something. Couldn't this be like bullying??? They are calling people names, holding up signs saying there kids are in hell and God doesn't love them. (etc., etc.) If the parents or siblings get so torn up and hurt themselves.
The only thing you might get to stick would be trespassing Wrong!!! I know dog poo sticks!!
(no, I am not planning on mixing dog poo and pepperspray and filling ballons with it and throwing them at those protestors)
at school or sociology class went over all this in a while back and had some heated convorsations in class about it. IMO i think they are just horrible people. if they hate how americas running everything and what they are doing as far as war then they can leave america if they please
They came and demonstrated one county over from where I live, you all would have loved it. It was on the news but I can't find the link to the video, I believe it was sometime in '06 but word got out to the community that the Phelps bunch was coming and all the "good 'ole boys" showed up in their pickups and four wheelers toting their shotguns and lined the road to the funeral home. The Phelps bus rode by a couple of times and they shouted from the windows but they never got out to demonstrate, not anywhere close to the funeral home anyway.
If you want to drive them out, show up in force and let 'em know you mean business.
Here's the closest thing I could find, I'll keep looking for the video. It's great seeing everyone exercising their 2nd amendment.
The worst part of the 1st amendment is crap like this. I realize we must allow it but it makes me sick to hear about hate groups and pieces of sh*t that would protest a funeral get to walk around polluting life with their hate and putrid speech.
+ 1 Jrfitzny, I couldn't remember exactly how the poem went.
I would like to see a law forbidding anyone not associated with any funeral with in xxx feet. I don't want it to be just for those that have served. It should be for everyone, because every family deserves the right to bury their loved one in peace.
ACLU staff attorney Lili Lutgens says the First Amendment protects the right to peaceably assemble even near funerals, wakes, memorial services and burials.
Should be changed to read:
ACLU staff attorney Lili Lutgens says the First Amendment protects the right to peaceably assemble EXCEPT near funerals, wakes, memorial services and burials.
PERIOD, END OF CONVERSATION.
If Obama makes this the law of the land (and changes his political party affiliation to Republican) I just might vote for him in 2012. (might)
Threatening the president, yelling fire in a movie theater, threats. These aren't covered. And protesting any funeral should be added to the list. There are some lines you just don't cross.
