Gentleman Jon Defects to Ducati Buelligans shocked, mortified. Gentleman Jon, one of Bad Web’s early Chain Gang members, astounded the group by defecting to Ducati, purchasing a very stock red 2005 999s monoposto with low mileage and a Termignoni pipe. When asked for an explanation of his apostasy, Jon said, “I don’t know what all the fuss is about. I mean I have been riding overhead cam Italian iron since 1959. And frankly speaking, I just never felt perfectly at home in any Harley shop, -- just not into the dew rag thang, don't you know.” Reaction from notable Buelligans was not long in coming! Erik Buell, after a moment of total disbelief, mumbled, “Damn. I can’t believe Jon did something like that, especially we made the 1125CR look just like Lil Blackie but with a real motor, just like he wanted. I bet it was the damn pods. I know for a fact that Jon was going to buy a Baracuda if those dickheads at Harley hadn’t ruined everything. On the other hand, I must admit, I used to race a Ducati myself. Nice bikes, really.” Court Canfield, when informed snorted, “Not surprised one damn bit. That’s accurate. I knew after he started that insane rumor thread about a Rotax powered Buell that he was going to do something silly. He’ll be back when he sees the new models. Damn shame I couldn’t say anything about them!’ Blake, Bad Web Admin, noted: “ Good riddance! I mean the guy was a bandwidth monster! Always one damn thing or another - if it wasn’t a broken belt it was a rude Harley Dealer -- Pulleasee...!” Scooteroid noted: “ I’ll be sorry to see him go. I mean not too many guys on this board even heard of a Norton ES2.” Long time custodian Glitch was particularly disappointed: “Who is going to handle the Photochoping now that he’s gone ? Damn, I guess that leaves me! I wonder what's going to happen with that rare Drummer front sprocket guard?” Saintly was overheard to say, "I wonder what he is going to do with those vintage adjustable Tomaselli clubman’s bars. At least he won’t have to do a chain conversion on the 999, but he’ll probably go for the 520 and new sprockets anyway.” D.J. Kaplan, the Korean Cajun said: “He’ll never get rid of Lil Blackie, he’s in too deep”. A couple of 3%’s were trying to find out if he was planning on selling “Lil Blackie”, his heavily modified early model Twelve, and how much it might be. Lone XB said it would be worth more if he just parted it out: Ohlins suspension, Hal’s swing arm: “Jon had nothing but the best on the old girl”. Froggy, a younger member with many informative posts said: ”Typical Mac guy, you know, iPhone, Mac laptop, and a Ducati. Surprised? I Don’t think so.” Damnut, reached at his New England home, reflected that he and Jon had driven out to homecoming, (Actually Jon did the navigating and napping) together. "I hope Jon realizes how hard it is to keep those things clean," said Jim, noted for his immaculate Twelve, festooned with a fortune of Rizoma's best gear. Road_thing, contacted by carrier pigeon at the sprawling Ranchito el Pinche Chingadero in the suburbs of Welcome, Texas, said "Well, that's pretty damn cool!" Jon said Lil’ Blackie isn’t going anywhere, and he certainly isn’t abandoning Bad Web for Ducati.ms. “Just selling the Harley are replacing it with something a bit more roadworthy . Not planning on getting any Dainese leathers or any of that kind of thing” said the veteran rider, who is known to be pretty darn tight with a penny.

Beautiful bike. How does she ride compared to a buell? The vtwin duc's have a unique sound that sends shivers down my spine. I rode an old 748 a while back and I loved it. |

It must be a sham! Court Canfield cannot answer a question that directly (at least not in 25 words or less), therefore it must ALL be false |

Awesome story jon. Also great choice in trading a hardley for a duc. At least the duc is worthy of being in the same garage as Lil’ Blackie (defiantly one of my fav buells on here) |

what's going to happen with that rare Drummer front sprocket guard? Well.... Sweet bike Jon! You'll have to come down this Summer and give it a run through the hills. Nice score! If I know you, you got a killer deal. |

He got tired of people asking if his Buell was a Duc, so he got a Duc and now people will ask if it's a Honda. Looks like quite the ride, Jon. |

Great bike Jon. My friend bought one new in 03. Also the S model. He did full exhaust and some carbon fiber treatments.I was the only other person to ride it. I love the bike..... total fun. He sold it last year in the Spring for 11,500.00. The bike had 800 some miles on it. He never rode it. He rode his monster S4 all the time. For the money I wished I nabbed it. |

Save for the mirrors I always thought the 999 was a hell of a good looking Ducati. Like it better than the current one... |

If you bring it to HC I want to sit on it. Only way to get that much answer out of Court before he deletes it, is to have BW setup to email you posts |

That's about the funniest damn thing I've read on here in a long while! Congrats Jon, she's a beauty. Those Italians sure know how to make motorcycles. Mine has been a real pleasure. Quite a different ownership experience thus far. |

Well Jon, I see that you have finally returned to an Italian slut, as did I last year. Perhaps we are revisiting our youth...
I know you will never abandon Lil Blackie. Nor will I dispel my 12Ss from its place in my garage. I still prefer it for a more sedate but still spirited ride. The Brutale will hurt me if I'm not very attentive. Alas, the '65 BSA has been sold to a cafe' enthusiast who just had to have it. Good luck with the Duc. We should try to ride together this summer. |
