BAD NEWS (and I hope Froggy sees this): For only the second time in 92 years, the Crotona Midnight Run has been cancelled. The Organizer found too many downed trees, power lines, etc. on the route, and there is more snow in the forecast for tonight in the area. There is no "Rain Date." The event will be next held in 2011. The Ramapo Motorcycle Club sends their regrets to all who were looking forward to this event. |

God damn it, I just got home with my wrecked Blast. I got it all up and running and ready for tonight I agree, good call on canceling it, its a warzone here. Shame they couldn't postpone it to next weekend |

I'm not hard core. Nor am I some sort of idiot that has to 'prove something' by riding a motorcycle in ludicrous conditions. I'm going ADV riding in a river instead. |

Froggy, they try to schedule around the full moon, and next week the moon won't be full anymore. Damned shame... it's only the second time in 92 years it's been canceled (and the last time wasn't all that long ago either... another blizzard too). |

Dave bad weather riding can be kinds fun sometimes once you get used to it. I don't get to much chance at adventure riding but bad weather riding I got comming out of my ears. So it can be what your used to what makes you happy. IMHO If I didn't have a shyt load of holes in me I might have given it a go this year. I will say the concentration level is fantastic in bad weather riding. |

>>>>Dave bad weather riding can be kinds fun sometimes once you get used to it. Indeed. When I was doing a lot of coast to coast riding . . . those days when the goal was to simply accumulate all the possible miles on a bike in a period of time . . . weather was . . well, whatever it was. During 1995 I recall one day where I was stopped by the Minnesota Highway Patrol who suggested I leave the road during 50 mph winds and torrential downpour. Spent a week riding in weather that ran between 9oF and 20oF. Memorable. The story many old timers may recall about the day I stole what I thought was gas (it was diesel) from a farmers tank . . . it was heavy sleet and snow. By they time I got off the 30 miles of dirt roads I got caught in the traffic from the KU-KSU game. Got caught riding from North Carolina to Kansas and got nailed about West Memphis. That was the day that I learned as long as you are dressed for it . . . I just turned up the music, hunkered down and took all the backroads through the Ozarks. Another old time favorite story . . the one about "are you from there?". It's all good. Anymore . . I don't PLAN to ride in foul conditions and this year, for the first time, I dropped all the insurance on the bikes and they are hibernating. I've got a couple good rides coming up this year . . . I'm sure I'll find my share of foul riding conditions. The river. . . I love it. I seem to recall your photo of you and a Uly pretty well submergiated. |

Should we have our own midnight ride this year . . . perhaps wander all over the boros, Westchester County, the Hudson River Valley and so forth . . from one all night cafe to another. I used to do my monthly full moon coffee and cheesecake rides in Manhattan. . . it could be fun. |

Court: Sounds like the ONLY way to avoid the majority of the traffic. I HATE riding in the city and avoid it at all costs. The exception being the annual show at the Javits Center, though one of these days I'll make the Dinosaur rendezvous... |

Sir Canfield whip us up a route for 10pm dinner in Jones beach then on to Idlewild for a snifter, then perhaps over to Staten Island for coffee and on to Brookaleen for a another . Culminating in a wonderful breakfeast at Pier 17 or something there in imagine that I am in the sights alone would be wonderful on a spring s eve. |

I've ridden every week at least a day or two this year regardless of weather conditions. Only thing that keeps me off the road is ice. It's been a long cold winter here in VA and it aint over yet. |

I know what you mean Mountainstorm. I've had to take the car for nearly two months because the roads are icy as @#$% in Charlottesville in the mornings when I head off to work. Last few days have been great. More snow coming. |
