Been a while since I've posted any update pics, but after a touch up sitting last night it should be done. Problem now is I feel too asymmetrical, so I've got my artist coming up with some artwork for a few concepts we came up with for my other arm now. Stand by for that, but here's the finished "Sleevie Wonder".

Kinda. It's a new take on traditional american tattoo style. We took some traditional symbols for good luck and a safe return home and put a slightly more modern, artistic look to it. |

I keep saying I'm going to get a tattoo & I know what I want, it's these two flags knotted together.
I haven't found anyone who can do the artwork for me though. Also I haven't yet figured out how the hell I'm going to get it past She Who Must Be Obeyed. |

Problem now is I feel too asymmetrical That bugs me too. I'm working on an evil/good, ying/yang type thing. Right arm good, left evil... Working on the good arm now. You artist does awesome work. Chicks dig tattoos. They dig scars too. If I can stop breaking bones I could get more tats... |

Chicks dig tattoos. It's true. I love them. They add character. Problem now is I feel too asymmetrical Maybe you could extend one of the designs up and across your chest to unbalance it? |

That is some really nice work there Ben! Looks good! I have a few scattered tats, but have put a lot of thought into half sleeves. I was really interested in the Polynesian style, but it is VERY difficult finding anyone who really knows the symbols and their meanings unless you travel to the islands. It has been so long since my last tat (1990), that I don't even know the cost of artwork these days. Would you mind sharing what the ballpark figure is on something like what you have there? |

I was really interested in the Polynesian style, but it is VERY difficult finding anyone who really knows the symbols and their meanings unless you travel to the islands. Even a better reason to get it. I got a couple things to where people are like WTF. I just smile and continue on... My guy stated to me when I first started with him that if it your hand won't cover the tat, it would be $100 an hour. The more I've got the less that number became. Plus it helps my entire family sees him as well. |

First thanks for all the complements. I am just the canvas, my artist pretty much came up with the whole thing based on my very general thought. My artist has very reasonable rates, $60 an hour. I think her work is top notch, here's her myspace link to have a look at her other work. http://www.myspace.com/nicolejoymiller |

Everything in it is for good luck and/or a safe return home. But I wanted something unique, not the normal 4 leaf clovers, horse shoes and the like. Crickets are supposed to be good luck. I didn't know it either til she told me and I looked it up. |

I've actually talked to her about that, and she knows she could charge more and get it. The thing is she likes doing big custom stuff vs a bunch of flash. She says that if she raised her rates, she'd get to do less cool big custom work. She stays booked up pretty much all the time, makes a livable wage and gets to do the tattoos she likes to do. |

I was in the service with a guy who had a rooster's head tattooed on his calf. Drank for free in bar bets that the head of his c*ck was below his knee. |

She does awesome work! Beautiful even tone shading in colour, and vivid too. Very cool. I still have to get sorted to get my next one. It's ready to go, just gotta find the time and money I guess. It's only another little'un but this really cool graphics guy we know designed the finished product for me |

Yeah she's a true artist and was into art long before tattooing. We've talked a lot obviously, she told me that if you woulda told her she was gonna be a tattoo artist while she was attending the Pittsburgh art institute she woulda laughed you out of the room. She moved back here to finish school due to lack of cash. Her father proceded to take her artwork to a tattoo shop owned by a friend of his and got an apprenticeship so she could make money while finishing school. She really got into it, and here we are. She still paints and stuff also, and her work is incredible. |
