So, I was coming down on orders to go to Okinawa. I wasn't really interested in going there and for personal reasons didn't want to go. Well, I found out that since I'm still on my 1st enlistment that I can decline the orders. So, I did that and was offered orders to Landstuhl Germany. Well, I accepted those. So, looks like I'll be going there now instead, just waiting on a report date. Anyone there? I'm dying to ride the Alps. |

The Alps will be a haul, but you will be near some of the best roads in Europe. Once you get there, and get settled in, just start working your way north to the Eifel region. You can look on a map now and see what's up. As you travel north of Trier you'll be going up and the roads will get twisted...you'll love it. Also, Jens is in/near Prum. Bitburg and Spangdahlem are open for you if you need US stuff. You're gonna dig it. |

That's what I'm looking forward to. Couldn't ask for better. Just waiting on the orders now. Crossing fingers all works out. Should being the BN doesn't want to lose me. |

Amtrac's suck ass! We were happy to see them after a 15 or so mile hump though. I still can't believe we'd stuff an entire squad in one. Then have to sit in that thing with the hatches closed sucking in diesel smoke for hours. I was a grunt with tracks being our support/mode of transport. Why couldn't I have been in a helo company . My trackers took good care of us though, good guys. |

The Alps isn't that far from the Ktown area. I'm currently stationed at Aviano, Italy but I have been to the Ktown area lots of times. There's plenty of great riding within an hour of you but one event you'll want to try to make in August is "ride the Alps" at the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort. It's an Armed Forces Rec Center and the event is always a blast! |

If I ever get to sell my f****n house I'll be moved to just over the border from Geneva, between the Alps & the Jura. You, me & Smaz will have to to meet up somewhere in the middle. Be nice to have somewhere to crash in Germany when I'm on one of my vehicle shopping trips. Kyle Brine (Brineusaf) was stationed there too don't know if he still is though, you might pm him for more info. (Message edited by mr_grumpy on February 18, 2010) |

Think I'll fire him a message. I'm just waiting on confirmation that this is in stone. They're working on it right now. Crossing fingers. At least I can bring my bikes to Germany with no issues. |
