there used to be a place back home in clairton that had the best foot long chili dogs. and there is nothing like a good chicago dog, the best thing to come out of chitown.
I have found a new favorite. My wife's grandmother gets us a grab bag of stuff from Omaha Steaks every once in a while. Their dogs are hugemongous and are really good if you ever order from there.
I love good hot dogs. Kayem Natural Casing Franks are my favorites. I had heard somewhere that Boars Head franks were supposed to be the best, but they don't even come close to Kayems. Once on a H-D group ride, I had some franks that were possibly the best Hot dogs I've ever tasted, but I never found out who made them. I think I know what I'm having for lunch, now...
When it warms up, this is usually the first long ride of the season. Clayton Burger....Clayton Washington, 285 miles, worth every mile marker to get to it.
Personally, growing up - wait, I mean spending my formative years - in Wisconsin Vienna Beef are THE BEST hot dogs in my book. A couple of years back I was surprised to see that they are also popular around Atlanta (and even a few short miles from TWO). But I sure can't find them anywhere around Eastern NC.
This past Christmas I had to have a couple of Vienna Beef hot dogs and even an Italian Beef - YUM!
Mine, Chicago Style, this one is from Strongs in Watersmeet, MI. A little place just off the snowmobile trail in the middle of no wheres. The local attraction at Watersmeet is the Paulding Light, out in the twolies, this "light" is some sort of environmental abnormality that creates an unexpainable bright light like a railroad train and causes internal combustion engines to faulter in the area. Kinda spooky.
Doooohh... somewhere around here on a PC I have photos of the weiner building moved on Hwy-285 west of Denver on the way up a mountain. It is a hotdog stand, of course, from the 50's and it was moved, renovated, and added on to. Now it is a good 45min wait on a good day when warmer weather dominates things.
