Sifo...it's even worse than that! When the USSR fell in the early 90s, the temperature monitoring stations scattered all across SIBERIA stopped sending data. Of course the global average is going to go up. That's like taking the thermometer out of your freezer and then claiming your house just got warmer. |

Global Warming? I thought the only thing that killed manatees was Titusville's Cornbread Mafia. Red or white wine? It depends on the cut and how it's prepared, IMHO. When in doubt go w/PBR... |

It could be due to the fact that our (human) presence has undoubtedly created an effect in the natural cycle of things. Guess we all ought to just go home then... |

Actually the soviet weather monitoring stations routinely read sgnificantly lower temperatures than our satellites monitoring the USSR countries showed. Turns out that the really cold places got significantly more money and fuel in very cold years than in average years. So yes they did show warming when the USSR fell and it was truely AGW in that it was caused by man turning the dial back to the correct reading. Nasa's land based temp variation from the satellite info is a much more difficult problem, easy solution is that that the surface readings were being systematically tampered with. |

It really isn't about comparing one measuring device to another to see if they read the exact same temperature. It's about collecting consistent and comprehensive data so that you can observe trends. A thermometer that reads off by 2 degrees for 150 years doesn't have any effect on the trend when it's averaged in. When that thermometer gets replaced, relocated, has it's environment changed, (surrounded by blacktop, placed under a BBQ grill, has and air conditioner placed next to it etc.) suddenly you get a change that is a problem to the data set.

I am in Crystal River today/tonight....It's Effen cold, I got frostbite on my cheeks from picking up seashells by the sea shore this afternoon. I'm never coming back to this place again, I've had it, I could have spent less by staying at the waterpark in Dundee all week and I would have been warmer plus I would have been able to go swiming. That bastard in Grand Rapids wearing nothing but shorts, sandals and a tee shirt really effed things up this time, if I ever see him again... |

Only kidding! It's like 90 down here.... A bunch of nice Florida Game Officers are helping the manatees up on the beach to catch some sun. |
