I wonder if in Part II Erik will be able to answer some of the nagging questions that have been posed in this forum, in particular, whether the decision to end Buell was more than purely a "business decision". We gotta wait 'til next month? Oh man...
One of my favorite lines. During 18 seconds a lap you can see an acceleration advantage. Plenty of time for a redneck to holler out on the TV show, "Dayum, look at the power of that Hurley-Dayvudson!,"
Court I believe! My STT is safe, dry and warm in the garage waiting on spring.
If I have to go for a ride right now I'll take my KLR...after all I can get another KLR when salt eats it alive! My Buell is worth way too much to me to ever treat it like that.
I feel like a Lost Boy waiting on Peter to show back up!
"But you know I speak the truth, and that it is a shame virtually no one in the press did. I am so pissed at Kevin Cameron's article on this topic, I feel like pulling the foreword I wrote for his latest book. For Christ's sake, Kevin had credibility with me until he wrote that we had 180 hp and the Japanese 600's had 105. Alzheimer's or what?"
I don't like a sedate, calm, Erik. I've never met the man, but surmise he is vibrant and passionate. I want him swinging for the fences. I want him defending Buell and laying low those who would seek the death of his dream.
I can't wait for the next chapter. I sincerely hope his next venture comes complete with no handlers, no shackles, no restraint.
Way to go Erik! Remember, It's the quiet, calm guy that's going to make the biggest difference when the chips are down. People can only take so much B.S...........then.............ZANG! A good reminder that we are all still human, and we can all kick ass! I can't wait to see what comes next. I'll be flyin' my Buell flag! Stoopid snow. Now I really wanna go riding.
Oh he is still there, he can be scary calm when he moves into problem solving mode, but he can also speak his mind a lot more than he could before.
Good piece and he really does speak the truth. The racing in DSB 2009 was the best I have seen ever in a USA MC road race. It was almost as much fun as Springfield.
If DMG can overcome some of the stupid things they did, and they seem well on the way to do that with some recent departures and additions, I think thye can turn a dying sport around. (When I say dying I don't mean DMG is killing it, I mean it was on life support, waiting for the plug to be pulled, long before they arrived. Attendance was dropping, TV ratings were just below midget beach vollyball, racing was boring, and it was only a matter before the factory money went away and the whole game collapsed.
Definitely a very cool interview, really looking forward to more
Is there any sort of DVD of the '09 DSB season? I've only seen highlights on the web, it would be cool to watch some entire races.
EB refers to Alan Cathcart testing the 1125's, and I read that he had a fall while testing the RR, but has that article or articles been published yet?
"CW: Will you be moving to an island and building custom guitars?" "EB: No, I'll be back in the motorcycle industry. I still believe we can build an American sportbike that's a valid product, and I think we were there."
