>>>Obama was simply pointing out the fact that the underwear bomber was handled no differently than the shoe bomber was during the Bush administration.
I agree and was amazed that the President didn't know that the SHOE fellow was an AMERICAN CITIZEN the UNDERWEAR guy was NOT.
Obama, presumably well versed in Constitutional Law, should know the difference.

Sorry Court, you're wrong. Reid the shoe bomber is not and has never been an American Citizen. He is a Brit. You're listening to Fox too much, or Newt Gingrich. So now, explain why the shoe bomber's treatment was correct under Bush and the underwear bomber's treatment under Obama was wrong.}

What would the 2009 budget deficit had been if McCain had won? $1.3 trillion. What if McCain had dropped out and Sarah Palin had taken over and been elected, then what would the 2009 budget deficit been? $1.3 trillion. What if Chuck Norris had won as a write-in candidate? The 2009 budget deficit would have been $1.3 trillion. Get it now?
The deficit was a function of Obama, Reid, and Pelosi acting in concert.
You can claim that there are invisible hands at work, but bills don't get passed and signed into law by themselves.
If there is a 2009 deficit, it was under Reid, Pelosi, and Obama.

You are correct that the DOJ prosecuted Reid's terrorism in a civilian court. We are now wiser and see these actions as a coordinated attack as acts of war. It is no different than German saboteurs that invaded the United States during WW2. Those gentlemen were convicted by a military tribunal and executed.
Terrorist acts committed by unlawful enemy combatants must be tried by military tribunals, preferably at Gitmo. Obama better learn this lesson pronto or the only person voting for him in 2012 will be the Socialist m2me.

Court probably wrote, "Shoe bomber, American citizen" on the palm of his left hand while watching Fox and Friends. I'd avoid writing anything on your hand while watching Fox. It's mostly garbage and can be proven to be garbage by any eight year old kid with Internet access.

GWB was simply one of the worst presidents in recent memory. Getting us into Iraq was simply nuts.
Obama is certainly far from perfect but he is a damn site better than the last guy. Lets see so far Obama has tanked the economy worse than any president since hoover and gotten us into a pointless and likey damaging war... oh wait that was Bush. An you all think Obama is screwing up the country? What are yo all drinking?

There you go again. Been reading your Rules for Radicals again John, like a good little Socialist revolutionary?
You wouldn't know truth if it was staring you directly in the face in broad daylight. Fox News breaks more important stories than the other networks combined, and they are the most trusted TV news network by far, the only one with more trust than distrust.
The far left socialist revolutionaries like you who want "to fundamentally change the United States of America" cannot stand having the truth revealed about their conniving corrupt partisan operators in Washington and elsewhere, so they go after Fox News to try to malign them. Just following their Socialist mentor's directions, Saul Alinksy, the ends justify the means, eh comrade?
Reid was not affiliated with al qaeda. The crotch bomber is and very much so. The Reid case occurred before congress enacted the military tribunals in 2006, so there was no alternative. But the liars of the left won't tell you that; they'd rather lie to further their anti-American agenda.
M2me does a lot of trash talking about Fox News. Funny how he has nothing substantive to support his case that their news reporting is "garbage". The truth is the opposite, to wit, the ACORN scandal broke by Fox News, the UN Corruption scandals broken by Fox News, the Communist revolutionary and 9/11 "truther" and Obama's Green Jobs Czar Van Jones, exposed by Fox News, the Communist loving Mao admirer Anita Dunn, White House Communications Director, exposed by Fox News. Yeah, that Fox News is sure a slacker organization.
Freedom first and victory over the militant islamists.

Yes, we are now wiser. Our nation, based on law and justice, is incredibly strong. Torturing our enemies only weakens us. That's what we've learned.
No, treating attacks on US interests by organized foreign parties as criminal acts to be investigated by the FBI and prosecuted in US courts weakens us.
Had Clinton understood this, 9/11 wouldn't have happened.

I certainly believe Obama is smart. I think he said to judge him by the people he choses, and on that basis alone, I don't like his schtick. ( you can of course say that about a lot of Presidents. )
A fanatic? Thank you. Extremism in the defense of liberty is a virtue. I admit to being firmly in favor of religious freedom. I really appreciate the constitution. Real smart guys with a good feel for how people dominate & rule others, set up a structure to maximize freedom & minimize unfair oppression. Works better than any other, so far.
The existing system has warts. Big ones, and some are independent of politics. The ever growing bureaucracy is a natural phenomena and I certainly don't have a good answer for how to reduce it.
But the changes that this administration wishes to make in domestic and foreign policy seem to me to be proven bad ideas.
Sticking to domestic, Obama wants a few things that are issues. 1. socialized health care 2. redistribution of wealth 3. a "cap & trade" tax on energy. 4. more taxes on business 5. a generally stronger role for the govt. in our daily lives.
Now, you might think some of the above changes are good. If so please argue your point with honesty, logic and provable facts or sources, and you can actually change my mind.
You might think.."no, Obama doesn't want that" and if so, argue that point like a gentleman.

How is a military tribunal torture? It is disingenuous but expected that you will attack our military every chance you get. Once again, your anti-US military predilections are in view for all to see. The only logical way to prosecute acts of terrorism by unlawful enemy combatants is by the military. Obama is starting to learn this lesson the hard way and at the taxpayer's expense.

Those gentlemen came to the U.S. on board a German military U-boat, not a civilian aircraft or ship. That's what makes it different.

An act of war is an act of war. Period. Your argument about how they got to our shore to conduct warfare is irrelevant and you know it. If the German spies arrived on a Carnaval cruise ship or sneaked across the Mexican border, then their act of sabotage would not have been prosecuted by the military?

Blake probably has "ACORN scandal" written on the palm of his left hand. He figures it's a good talking point.
Some idiot dressed up like a pimp from the old Starsky and Hutch show walks into some ACORN offices with a hidden camera and starts asking asinine questions. The whole thing was a joke! It was ridiculous! Don't you get that? No, I guess you don't.
Posted on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 - 11:13 pm:
Joke or not, they succeeded in defunding ACORN with my money.
I'd call that a win.
The really funny part of the whole thing was how consistent the offices were in their support of creation of brothels for underage girls smuggled from other countries.
Posted on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 - 11:26 pm:
We have already won the ACORN argument in a different thread. Please read the hundreds of pages of evidence that were submitted instead of your visceral, emotional resentment that a despicable, corrupt organization such as ACORN was busted.
What is wrong with the Teaparty movement? I don't know enough about it but it sounds ok to me.
I have to agree with Blake's assessment of you, John. Don't you ever suspect that your politics are radical? Ever? You need to refocus your misplaced politics at some point in your life.
I am agreement that arguing with you is pointless but sometimes I can't help myself.

Yeah, here in Minnesota our courageous governor made the bold move to halt funding for ACORN because of the scandal. Hooray!
quote:
Gov. Tim Pawlenty (R-MN), a potential presidential candidate in 2012, has taken the bold step of ordering his state government to suspend and review all funding of ACORN -- a move sure to please the GOP base.
But here's the catch, according to the Star Tribune: ACORN says that they don't have any funding from the state of Minnesota. A spokesman for the group told the paper that ACORN has never received money from the state government, "and there's certainly not a dime to cut off right now."
Thanks to Fox News the torrent of money flowing into ACORN from hard working MN taxpayer's has finally been stopped! Don't any of you guys get it? You were played liked a fiddle by Fox News. The "ACORN scandal" story was a joke on you! You got punked!
Look at the Tea Party movement and the 600 folks at the convention paying $600 plus to listen to Palin's keynote speech. Look at the $100,000 payday for Palin to give her keynote speech. You're getting punked all the time by Fox News and you don't even realize it. That's sad actually.
