I was only pointing out my understanding of his religious beliefs not that it was correct or not for either one or that I approved of GWB making that claim and yes if he wants to claim so that is his right as you have pointed out.

LOL Yeah and if you said god talked to you, you would be takin away to a very special hospital LOL
I re-looked up the quote and it was 'I feel like God wants me to run for Prez'
Either way I hate both men and have never seen a good president in my lifetime only in History books and even then I am sure they just whittle the actions down to the gems...
Wolfie, I am sure there are plenty of people who would love to. But they lack the funds the compete with the rich who are doing it to get richer...

Don't get me wrong. I hate the spending.
I think the deficit is going to tear our Nation down.
When Obama handed those dirty bastards on Wallstreet all that money I thought I was going to burst a blood vessel. In America if you want to commit a crime commit a gigantic one...that way not only do you never suffer the consequences of your actions, you get paid like a Superstar for screwing up...it's hideous.
I wonder what it will take to get the common people to rise up against these tycoons...apparently TV is a fantastic sedative.

Defense spending was 23% of the federal budget in 2004. Not bad considering it is one of the only things the Federal Government is charged with doing by the Constitution. We spend more on Social Security, and that is NOT one of the things the Constitution empowers the Federal Government to do. It isn't defense spending that's putting us in the hole, it's all the other government programs that they spend money on that don't have any basis in the constitution.
If a private company managed their employee retirement fund the way Congress has manged Social Security, the officers of the company would be in jail. Why can't we hold our government to its own standards?

The Meltdown started in the Bush Administration.
The Deficit went off the charts due to the Bush Administration War Spending.
So how is the new guy responsible for all of that?
Seriously?? Scroll up . . . or down:
Yes, Bush spent way too much. Yes, the economy started to tank under Bush's watch. However, Obama's spending in his first year is TRIPLE what Bush spent in his worst year.
Another illustration of Obama's spending:
Bush was far from a great president, but Obama's level of failure is off the charts (literally) and he has 3 years left. At this point I don't care if the if the next president paints himself blue, claims he's appointed by the Na'vi, and thinks he's going to pandora when his term is over. I just want someone who will stop the spending.

Interesting if true:
The percentage of cabinet appointees with private sector experience going back to 1900. President Obama's cabinet is the lowest at 8%. Next lowest were President Kennedy's at 28%, President Carter's at 31% and President Clinton's and President T. Roosevelt's at 36%. Presidents George W. Bush's was at 53% and President F. D. Roosevelt's was at 50%.

on the defense spending thing, think about how many people that spending employs, folks in this country design ships, apply for patents, build rockets, and install armor... How much money does all of the govt. programs bring in by way of taxes by people who are being employed. The money that was spent was or is being spent, not much we can do about it. The big issue I have is the amount of money spent to save peoples retirement funds and solify housing when niether of that matter as it only delays the inevitable because sooner or later they have to liquidate that fund to live off of or move out because they can't find a job. It seems ass backwards in the method of thinking-more worried about big banks who aren't helping small banks make loans to corporations anyhow and helping out those who got under on thier homes who shouldn't have been in those homes to begin with.

"on the defense spending thing, think about how many people that spending employs"
No, no, no, that isn't what we want to bring up. If we do, then we cannot demonize the big bad evil military-industrial complex! Better we have a weak and feckless military so everyone will like us. We're much too arrogant. Give tyranny a chance!
