I am so excited! I have accepted a new position with Spec Pro at the Badger Army Ammunition Plant in Baraboo, Wisconsin. I start on Tuesday the 16th of February. I interviewed in July with them, and they hired another person. This new job they just called and made me a very very very nice offer. I will be working on the BAAP contaminated land cleanup. And, even better yet, he said it is more research oriented so I think I will be helping to negotiate with the State clean up levels for soil on behalf of the USARMY. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Badger_Army_Ammunitio n_Plant This was the largest ammunition production plant during the World War II Era. The company I will work for is an Alaska Native Corporation... which means it is fully owned by Native Americans. I think this could be the best of both my technical and tribal experiences combined. Now... if I can negotiate the week of June 14th - 18th off I will be all set for Homecoming! |

Way too freaking COOL! - and indeed, the best of all your worlds. Our Military is in serious need of remediation in many facilities that were put in place to support WWII AWESOME, just awesome! My sis' first gig was as an Environmental Engineer with a contractor to the Navy. Great experience - though it could be tough at times, and like any large organization, da Gubbmint has levels of bureaucracies that interfere with productive work taking place, but working with a contractor gives you the best of it all! Congrats and looks like you don't have to up and move. You want to circulate a petition here to collect a few hundred signatures underneath Court's to excuse you in June??? |

I went to the coffee house, found the owner and told her about the new job. She was actually very nice and very excited for me... she even hugged me a couple of times and told me I can skip my weekend shifts if I want to... which I want to do. I mean really, I would be a major pain in the a$$ to be around I would be so f***ing happy... My next priority is to get my car fixed. I have a 99 Saturn SL1 with over 167 K miles on it... it has been sounding like a sick dying cow for the last three months or so. I got a 35 mile one hour commute coming up four days a week. |
