I'm working at the Easyrider Invitational this weekend in C-bus, Ohio. I can't wait to sport my Buell swag.... I'm curious to see if anyone says anything. I should keep a copy of that article in my pocket to hand out.... |

I'd find a way to scrape together $10k, and then stand back and let Erik and the Elves do their thing . Brumbear - I hear what you're saying, and H-D's actions continue to baffle me to say the least... |

Dang, we'd be in for something, not sure how much, but something. Erik put out a big ticket item that, in our opinions, was so good, we found a way to have three of them. Of the bikes we've had, we only had the "who gets to ride it today" argument over the Buells. |

Anyone here speak Finnish? http://www.mpmaailma.fi/index.php?news=3&news_id=3 095 Google translation is a bit rough: 28.1.2010 07:23 BRP Buellia look for? Bombardier Recreational Products, which owns mm.Austrian Rotax, apparently havitellut Buell 1125R's acquisition of rights to pursue its development. BRP is probably offered to buy the whole Buell, Harley-Davidson but was not willing to sell the company, but stopped production of the mark entirely. |

It still doesn't make much sense, sort of like trying to make sense of the behavior of an alcoholic. SELLING (= profit) Buell to BRP would have kept the brand going, without pissing off their customers or making the rest of the motorcycling world seriously doubt the competence of MOCO management. H-D is so horribly out of touch with reality when it comes to seeing it's future customers it is really pathetic. This was really nailed home in the newest issue of BMW Owner's News, in a review of the stunning new RR1000. In the article, one of the factory guys states that the average age of the buyer of a new Beemer is 49 (close to the same age as an H-D buyer). Putting a serious, world class litrebike out there with awesome power, and the technology to put it to the ground was the best way to attract the attention of younger buyers, who may not go so far as purchase the RR1000, but may be attracted to BMW's line of 800cc bikes, which are also competitively priced and come in a variety of configurations. Harley Davidson had that with the Buell line; a world class sport twin an a line of air cooled machines for riders who don't need 140 horsepower, but demand a fine handling machine in all configurations available. BMW gets it, so does Ducati and Triumph. no future, no future, no future for you! |

this is just unreal... If a customer walked into my place of work and offered to buy something I was getting ready to toss in the dumpster... I would sell it to them in a heartbeat

offered to buy something I was getting ready to toss in the dumpster... I don't think they plan on throwing the Buell brand into the dumpster. I think they will make a feeble attempt at resurrecting the brand without any of the Buell staff, and do it the H.D.I. way. Which can't be good. |

Uly, didn't think of that. I can just imagine how that will go. |

I have a morbid imagination. I'm picturing XBs with "H.D. styling". Big fat rear tires, skulls, add 50 more execs., quadruple the engineering staff, quadruple the styling dept., you know, a true Willie G. squidster bike at twice the cost. |
