I usually phrase it like this: "Do you REALLY want someone else to have to wipe your butt for 6 months while you regrow skin on your hands?" |

Yeesh. What a great picture you just drew in my mind, Jeremy. But oh so true... Sometimes I wonder what all the other poser pirates think of me, on my '77 Shovel, with a fullface white helmet, covered in weird/reflective stickers, my kewl Buell jacket and gloves, Kevlar reinforced jeans, and steel-toed boots. Sometimes I like to ride skin to the wind, but I'm ALWAYS aware of the risks. Rode the Gap once with a guy who was a Thalidomide baby, had clawlike hands- was riding a YSR50 like a maniac, and he just couldn't use gloves. Mebbe he could've gotten something custom made, but I dunno. Watched him wipe out after dragging the left footpeg, gouging the pavement with a picture-perfect decreasing radius angle- his "Draggin" jeans literally saved his ass. Still a fun day! |

We got home this evening about 5:30 pm. 2,467 miles on the odometer and it was a great trip. Only got wet the one time it rained on us at Helen while we were staying at the Copperhead Lodge. Jerry says next time we will stay at Copperhead and ride the curves out of there for 4 or 5 days! Buell hospitality is the BEST! On the way home we stopped at Bumpus and met Jeremy. Another great Bueller! Now we are really looking forward to Homecoming. Vern, you better be there! Jerry and the Mrs. |

Homecoming is marked in ink on my map this year! Glad to see you two had a great trip. I realized as I was going home from the Copperheadlodge, that I had not even ridden with you guys this time out. We will get back to that for sure. |

I was waving with my foot... trying to keep the hands on the bars so as to protect them from hitting pavement... Thanks for the advice. T |
