I live about 30 miles east of Sacramento Ca. One year ago we had 4 Harley/Buell dealerships within 50 miles of my home. Two were within 10 miles. Today there is only one left. I realize it's much further for many others on here, I'm just thinking this must be a bad sign. |

This is just a correction. Those that were over leveraged to make the quick buck will be shaken off soon. Only the most committed will be left. Who knows the Buell mark may rise again under the H/D tent. |

My local Suzuki/Kawi shop closed up too a few months back. Most industries are feeling a pinch right now, toy/luxury items are getting hit the hardest. (Message edited by froggy on February 02, 2010) |

I always pondered how much these chrome and leather palaces added to the cost of a bike |

I think (can't find the article) that 8 dealers closed last year and HD announced last week that 10 were closing in the coming weeks. I **think** that's right . . google it and you can find out. |

Reggie Pink's in White Plains, New York was owned by a very nice family that was "convinced" by H-D to update their building. They are now closed because of the high overhead and slow sales. |

I heard a rumor that Reggie Pink went bust, sucks to hear that. I wished they would of taken up the Buell line, that way I wouldn't ever need to stop at New Roc. |

The palaces are money consuming beasts. They require regular large feedings of rectangular green federally made leaves. The attrition could be far from over. Just how few and small the beasts end up is anyone's guess. And in typical fashion, those survivors could easily make the old hard nosed dealing days look like the good old days once they are the only game in town. |

I have a feeling that the chrome and leather boutiques are having a hard time pushing the $25,000 couches right now. Hmmmmmmm I wounder if it was a good idea for Harley to close Buell in these tough economic times? |
