That was funny, here's what I did: I reconed my xb12r at local dealership on Saturday, and told the wife that I needed a ride up to the dealership on sunday. When we got there, I gave her a kiss, and said thanks for the ride! She looked like this about 1.25 sec later: then she smiled and I met her at home in about an hour with my new Buell. It doesn't get better than that! |

It is easier to get forgivness than it is to get permission. The only problem is my wife has been learning from me and that is how we ended up with a Charger R/T |

When I was starting a new Business ages ago Co-pilot once said to me 'If you can find a Thunderbird for under $12k I'll buy it and get the finance for you.' It took 12 minutes. Still got the bike - actually she won't 'let me' sell it. |

+1. Don't bother with kids either, they just bleed you dry. |

I didnt think the wallet would allow me to get another Buell even with the firesale and all. My wife told me to get whichever one I wanted and to do it now. I told her we couldnt afford it and besides I wanted to wait to support Eriks next endeavor by purchasing a new bike at that time. She said then I would just have to buy a third bike then as well. Being married does not suck for me. |

I'm only engaged, but she knows she can't and never will be able to tell me how to spend my money. I bust my ass, put my life on the line and have no life during the week to make what I do. I deserve to enjoy it the way I want after the bills are paid. |

Speaking on behalf of the 'wife contingency' here... Being that Chili has an X1, an rgv, an 1125r and I only have the Zepphyr... I don't think he has run into any wifal problems lately! (I wouldn't mind another one though ) |

My problem is that my wife encourages my to purchase what I think I need. She never questions me. Sounds good but sometimes it is also good to have that little voice in your head saying is this a need or a want and is it something that we can afford at this time, etc. An exception being late last summer when I was getting ready for my annual 2 week trip and my front seal was leaking, I took her bike. When I got back I told her how much I enjoyed her Wee Strom in NY Vermont etc. and that I think I will sell my Uly, I am tired of fixing it. She pointed out how I always say how I believe the bike to be the best I have ever had. She suggested I wait until the spring and summer of 2010 and perhaps trade in the 06 for a new Uly. Well we know what happened over oct of 09 to Buell, but I kept the bike thanks to her working through my frustration. Now I am getting new rear wheel assembly, comfort kit and other upgrades. My wife told me I could NEVER get a bike EVER. Therefore I did anyways after thinking maybe I should just trade in my wife if the backlash became too much. After all, I have to live with ME no matter what so screw it... I'm getting the bike. I did it on her birthday. She doesn't know that part since that just happened to be the day the guy selling it was available. I kept in in my dads garage for a couple of weeks since bringing it home on her birthday would most likely have provoked a more forceful hostile response and I didn't want to completely be a jerk. The day the bike came home was a long day... My dad rides and he just laughed. "What is a motorcycle doing in OUR garage?" A long night indeed... it was a gamble I was willing to take thinking I'd prevail but at the same time I had to take a position that I may be forced to make other living arrangements and if that's the case I'd find a more tolerant partner since they DO exist. Image having someone encouraging! my goodness... I'd have to build a larger barn! |

Kinda like a friend of mine who got EAA Grand Champion Antique tropy at the Oshkosh fly-in a couple decades ago for his J3 cub. He was fond of saying "You know when I brought it home in boxes, rusted and in tatters, my wife told me 'it's either that airplane or me'" and he then said, "Of course, you know I've been married one more time SINCE then." |

my wife just figured if she can't beat em, then join em. although she can only ride 2, she actually owns 3. so she is just as guilty as me for our addiction. |

After I crashed the M2 I was unable to ride for a few months & my wife said she'd be happy if I gave up riding altogether but she wouldn't ask me to do so. I'd had a TT as my screensaver for a long time & she knew I wanted one. One day I was on UKBEG & was reading about deals on them in the UK when she came up behind me, looked over my shoulder, & asked if the price was real. I called the dealer then & there, & got a stealing quote. She just said "Go get it". I love her to bits, even though we're separated at the moment due to work & housing problems, we talk nearly every day & I can't wait to see her in a couple of weeks time. |

it is hard being away from him ^^^^ I never really mind him getting the bikes because i know its a passion of his. To him motorcycles and Buells especially are not just a hobby but almost a art form to him. I'd never want to take that from him. |

The Uly is the only bike I've bought that the wife did'nt throw a big stomping fit about. Maybe cause she's getting use to it after all the years of surprises. I had a 2000 ATV and traded it for a 2004 and they looked about the same so I did'nt tell her,is that wrong? |

My wife wouldn't have a problem with anything that I'd want to buy because I'm pretty tight with cash and really have to need something to justify having it. She even reminds me that there are smoking deals on the Buells down at the dealership. But, I have my Firebolt, which is EXACTLY the way I want it, and if I want to ride with my wife, or just ride something different, the R100 BMW I picked up cheap last summer is a really nice old bike. I'd like to score a Uly sometime, but right now I've got my eye out for a decent VW Beetle. My wife wants one as a summer ride, and everyone needs their fun stuff, so it'll be the next project. |

Mrs. Barker usually says "Go ahead buy it, I'm tired of hearing about how great it is." Maybe I need to start expelling the virtues of a 1190. Current = XB9R, XB12X, 1125R, Buddy 125 Past = P3, X1, M2(her favorite) |
