Leno left, and shouldn't come back. The lineup they have now is great!
Anyways, if NBC doesn't pull their heads outta their asses and offs Conan, I sure as hell hope Conan goes onto to bigger and better things and no matter what he does I bet his ratings will be better than Leno's.
Just now waking up... arrgghh, gimme black coffee...
THE GLOVES ARE OFF, CONAN IS SWINGING FOR A K.O.! Watch out, Leno...
I watched Conan and Fallon last nite. Truly phenomenal performances from both. ESPECIALLY Fallon. If you saw it you'll know what I'm talking about...
What Brinnutz said.
Oh yeah- forogt her name, but Conan had a girl on playing violin- SHE was absolutely unbelievable to hear. Fantastic prodigy. The next Yo Yo Ma, on the violin, no doubt.

He made them millions of dollars, gave them tons of exposure, and brought in new talent to Sirius, how did he hurt satellite, or shoot himself in the foot?
He was paid 500 million over a 5 year contract, and he ultimately brought only a percentage of his FM audience with him. Sirius has never been profitable, even after convincing the FCC to let them "merge" and remove their main direct competitor XM.
You will see just how much his 500 million dollar contract (I know much of it was in stock options) was worth to the company if and when he re-signs. He'll be lucky to see 50 million this time around. I'll agree he brought much attention to Sirius and took the momentum away a bit from XM - but both companies failed to hit their forecast sub numbers by huge margins. Sat radio = fail, even with Stern.
I think he was great back in the day, but the show is filled with so much ego and ass-kissing it's pretty hard to listen to nowadays. He has payed phony callers to call in and plug Howard TV, how lame is that? Subscribe to pay radio to hear fake for-hire callers?
Leno left, and shouldn't come back.
Like him or not, Leno got screwed by NBC. They negotiated the Tonight Show deal so Conan wouldn't leave - it wasn't that Leno was ready to retire. Then after they do that he works out the 10pm idea and stays on with them, and now apparently everyone is getting F'ed. I hope they all go to different networks so I never have to turn on NBC again.
I doubt he was paid that much. Can anyone verify that rumor? That number was thrown out there in an article in one of the trade publications without any proof at all, and everyone just jumped on the bandwagon. Howard himself stated on the air that most of his compensation is in Sirius stock. The stock tanked, so did his pay.

The show was great back in the day, and even better now without the FCC up his butt. Have you listened lately? Howard Stern has never had to pay anyone to call into his show. People plug the show everywhere just for the fun of it. Streakers, crank calls, it's all in good fun. Where did you hear that? Don Imus?
I'm a Ferguson fan myself. Can't stand to watch Letterman because of his political leanings. Watching him interview Cheney's daughter was just painful. I'm pretty indifferent to O'Brien, Fallon and Kimmel.
For the record: NBC moved Leno to Primetime to save $$$. The Leno show reportedly costs 1/10th the amount to produce as a 'scripted drama' like ER. Once he started getting beaten in the ratings by other networks reruns, NBC decided to pull the plug.
Everyone involved in this Prime Time experiment knew this could happen.
I'm certain the hosts all make a pretty good living their jobs. With all due respect, I think these guys should all suck-it-up and move time slots if they have too.
I see the calls for Leno to retire akin to hoping for a relative to die so you can inherit their $$$. Classless IMHO.
Conan clings to his little blue note cards like his life depended on it. Leno is milquetoast. Letterman stopped being entertaining a LONG time ago and I want to club Paul Schaffer like a baby seal.
Meanwhile, as someone said earlier in the thread, Ferguson is a lunatic! Very spontaneous, keeps his guests on their toes, and occasionally goes off topic with some very heartfelt rants. If there is anything good about Letterman, it's that his production company does Ferguson's show, and hopefully Craig is next in line when Letterman finally steps down.
PEOPLE, set your Tivos for Ferguson and forget about the rest!
i watched conan last night for a few min before i went to bed. he was really bashing on his network! it was funny, but normally im not a big fan of conan....leno used to be good, his new show isnt IMO
So... Nobody saw Conan Thursday nite, swinging for the fences?
NOBODY saw Neil Young on Fallon just after that?!?
Two of the BEST shows they've done, to date.
Don't normally watch Jimmy Kimmell (I still miss "The Man Show"), but I heard earlier in the week he did his entire show impersonating Leno- with a cameo from Chevy Chase- wish I'd seen that!
Well, tonite's the LAST Tonight Show with Co-Co! I may not get off work in time, so I'm having the GF record it for me.
Conan has been ON FIRE with his jokes AND his guests. Many of his guests (especially Robin Williams last nite) have been zinging NBC as well or better than Conan himself. Adam Sandler, Paul Reubens, Ben Stiller, even Tom Brokaw have been on this week.
Night before last, Conan brought back the Masturbating Bear!!!
Folks, this has been truly fascinating and HILARIOUS for me to watch, as Conan departs with $45 mil, laughing all the way to the bank.
WTF is Leno gonna do now, now that he's won? IMHO the Tonight Show has been permanently tarnished by all this. Johnny Carson is rolling in his grave.
Dammit, if Conan goes to a cable network, I'll have to finally sign up for a new installation.
Conan has not been funny since he moved to the Tonight Show. If he had been doing what he has the last two nights, he would be okay. He was too tame.
Jay is okay, but is not exciting. I like Letterman better than Jay. Jay's show would have been okay, but it is tough to go up against Prime Time shows. Some times of the year, he would have done okay, during reruns, etc. Plus a lot of people cannot stay up, and it would have been a good show. But it is ratings , ratings, ratings. NBC needed numbers now, kind of like HD needs sales now. Too bad. Jay would have been good in Prime time, when no other shows were on...
I gotta say- Conan had a magnificent last show. I'm gonna have to upgrade my media storage methods just to get a full archive of the last couple of weeks.
THE Neil Young was sublime.
Free Bird, as performed by Will Ferrell, Conan, and an Allstar band, was insane. Conan carried the lead several times, alongside ZZTop's axe slinger, et al...
Conan had some great things to say as he bowed out. What a class act!
GOD I hope he goes to CBS, just like Letterman.
"IT IS YOUR FATE, LUUUUKE."
Good shiznit. I hope Conan prospers and continues to do his job.
I was disappointed in the last show. Record number of commercial breaks, and other than ruining the painting he had no new bits. It seemed like he was trying to stuff in as many guests as he could, and they were all boring! Robin Williams from the night before was much better. Then he had that long speech about how much he loved NBC and all that crap. Not one, but two musical guests! I totally skipped over the Neil Diamond part as I don't give a rats ass about his music. I promptly turned it off right after the credits, I didn't want to see any of the lamer that comes on next.
NBC shot themselves in the foot, he will be back and will haunt them for years.
