We are in the early planning stages of a track day at Blackhawk Farms Raceway in South Beloit, Il on June 17th, 2010. Bud Curtis met with the BHF track day organizer today, and they have agreed to put on a track day for us during Homecoming 2010 if response can support it. But to continue in the planning, we need a fairly accurate response from all of you. Obviously this will be an extra cost option for everyone. Just like the banquet, we need 100 people to sign up for the track day, or it just wont happen. But I have a feeling that this track day will fill up fast. Our local group usually has anywhere from 6 to 12 riders attending. Blackhawk puts on a VERY well organized, safe, and fun track day. This will be a rare chance to ride with fellow Buellers in a controlled environment. A track day where Buells Aren't a minority. We even have offers from more than one Buell racer to be a control rider during this event. CLICK HERE for a (2009) PDF explaining track days at Blackhawk Farms The prices have gone up slightly for 2010. Instead of $165 pre-order as stated on the PDF, it will be $170 if paid in advance. Click here to fill out the survey Thank You. |

52 of ya? Is that all that signed up for Homecoming? And I've only got 18 people wanting to do a track day? Come on!

Steve; it's 1000 miles to Wisconsin for Terri and I. After Homecoming, we're riding to Oregon. Then we have to ride home. If we do a track day, and one of us crashes, it would ruin the rest of our vacation. |

Dude- I'm IN like FLYNN for a track day. Provided: 1- My 05 XB9SX shapes back up and proves it can take a beating like that. It's not running at this time, but I have high hopes. 2- I can generally plan that far ahead to just say "Dammit I'm off for a week and I'm gonna ride to/from Homecoming AND rock a track day with all you nuts, myself surviving the beating and 3- planning to return home. Too soon to tell, but if the stars align, I'll hazard it... |

Track days can be as easy (qualifier: there is kind of a minimum pace you should keep to avoid becoming a hazard) or hard on you and your bike as you allow them to be. Ride within your limits, it's much safer to explore them on the track than the street. If you haven't done one it is eye opening and so much better than riding hard on the street. Safer and more enjoyable due to clean roads, no oncoming traffic and safety nets due to tech requirements on bikes and safety personnel at hand in case you do over-do it. Riding with other Buellers will not only be really cool, but we'll all be on a similar playing field as far as bikes go, the difference will be in the rider. Unless you've got a tuber with blown suspension, then you'll be pretty limited. |

keep in mind, though, at track day isn't a race. I've seen many people treat it as such and end up on the ground....or worse. There is no trophy for 1st place when it comes to a track day. There are also rules that apply to passing depending on the "class" you ride in. |

I plan on riding to and from the event so I have no intentions of setting the track on fire or anything. I was just looking forward to riding at a fun pace without all the worries of guardrails, trees, other cars, ect. I have nothing to prove to anyone. |

Do the bikes need special preparation like removing the lamps, wiring the (2) oil plugs to the frame, etc? |

Survey done. I am on the fence though. I've been riding without question since my little get-off in 7/08...but haven't done any real agressive post-titanium riding just yet. Only done a few days at all so far, product knowledge days chasing Tripp Nobles and Steve Natt and the like around Vegas International and Pocono...and it'd be a hike home (Maryland) with a busted bike if things went not-so-well. That, and I haven't had enough seat time on the CR yet to be really "at one" with it. Could be fun (and make for some great pictures) to run the day on BigBird! Wonder if they'd let me run with all three bags attached.... I just dunno yet... |

Novice mechanical inspection is no problem. My only worry is that they'll have to invent a new "Belongs-in-a-Wheelchair" class for me. |
