Well I think those that have one will agree. The thing I loved about my Buell was the seating position, the relationship of the bars to the pegs, and then theres that torquey potato pull from the twin. Now my bike was a much modified (the usuals)98 Cyclone, so you know what I'm talking about as far as seating comfort. Heak, I did an esentially non-stop from Redlands Cal. to Logan Utah, just stoping in Moapa long enough to stop and eat and relax for an hour, but the rest of the stops were the obligitory fuel-up and pull out of the way over in the parking lot, have a smoke and a Peach Nehi..lol, and on the road again. Not many bent over in a tuck bikes will let you do that before they take their toll to be sure. But the Cyclone was different, with the upright seating and all, with a Corbin seat it was do'able. Now the Thunderbolt and these later Buells were leaning towards tuck, but bikes like the 'City' and the 'Ullysese' were comfy, but how do you follow an act like that? Well with some horse-trading I managed to get a sweetie of a bike, comfy, powerfull, and smooth, without the freaking always problematic belt. It turned out to be a 2005 Yamaha FZ1. Now if you have a problem with rice, read no further, but those who have ridden one of these bikes will absolutly agree about the comfort and .....did I say power?.... I'm talking coming on the cam in first at about 60 and having the front want to slowly loft, just from the cam, and thats just acceleration, not monkeying trying to. Well I believe I'v found a new girlfriend, the old one died as it were. But I'm loving this new ride and the comfort, at 58 it's almost too much bike.....................not, ..lol.

Your "new girl friend" is a slut!

Great if you're into "that sort of thing".

Still keeping in touch with the old GF?

I feel the exact same way. I was really considering a Uly and felt it's comfort was rock solid!!! The I found a FJR. Fell in love. Wished Buell had made a bike like that.

Congrats on finding yourself a bike you like, but I have to question this...

without the freaking always problematic belt.

I have owned a total of 8 Buells that had belts. I have not had ONE SINGLE problem with a belt.

If I could add a second bike to my garage, it would definitely be an FZ1. I love the whole package.

Yeah, me. I bought an '07 990 Adventure. A bit better off road and surprisingly good on road. Makes me wonder why the Uly came with 17" wheels. I suppose the engine may be better but the Thunderstorm suited my riding style.

I did 450 miles on Sat and I was sore when I got home. Uly was more comfortable.

In order to fill my Buell's shoes, it would have to meet the same criteria;

1- Easy and inexpensive to maintain right here at home. No valve adj, quick easy lube and filter changes, cheap and easy to fix when I break it.
2- plentiful and inexpensive parts (this was true when I bought it but not so much now.)
3- Great handling and a sound and feel that moves my very soul.
4- When I arrive, it is the only one there.
5- A source like the BWB that provides a vast wealth of knowledge and great new people to meet and ride with.
6- aint thought of 6 yet but it looks like no other bike stands up to the first 5...

Man, I went through three belts on mine, the first a rock did it in, the second I literally spun the cogs off, all in about 1/4 mile, luckily I was close to home. the third broke and shot out the back. I had the tension guage to set them the little T shaped spring loaded thingie and the alignment was good, not riding to one side of the rear pulley, I guess it was just luck. The second was a Sporty belt rather than buell but they're all I think 127-128 tooth things. And if I remember right about $160 or so, I dont remember now, its been a while. Oh I'll always like the first girlfriend lol....
