If somebody out of nowhere gave you 40 grand, what would you do? I think I'd cruise around the lower 48 for a few months. |

I'd build a 40'x60' metal building in the back yard with a heated concrete floor and an insulated work space. |

+1 on the metal building with heated floors. And finish restoring our 1780's cabin so we could move in. Although, an '87 GNX sounds like fun.... |

What wouldn't we do with it??!! Renovating a house that belongs almost more to the bank than to us and tripping off to the US. One bike in serious need of a rebuild...Hhhmmm where to start!? |

About 1/4 to a garage/workshop, about 1/4 to pay off credit cards, about 1/4 to sink into mortgage/refinancing, about 1/8 to toys ( tv/stereo etc. ) and spend the rest of the time wondering where I spent the other 1/8th???? |

Well my mature side says to pay off my outstanding debt besides my house, which that would just do. Or pay my house below value, sell it, and get into the house I want. But dreaming for a moment I'd replace my Hayabusa (I'm not stupid, I'd keep the 1125.) then take a ride that involved a zig zag loop around the US. The change would go toward the mature decisions above. |

It would depend on how old I was when given the $$$$. Now; invest for retirement. 40 years ago; blew it all on toys... what did I know. |

About a third would go to federal taxes. The rest would get invested towards an earlier retirement and/or new home with enough property to become food independent, about 100 acres of good ground should suffice. |

Put 30k towards the house and take a nice vacation to Italy with the wife! Depending on what's left after that, look for a cheap 1125 :-) |
